When you think of a Hollywood power couple, one of the first that may come to mind is Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky. Both have had long standing careers in the entertainment biz with blockbuster hits under their belts. And now, Pataky is celebrating her turn in having one of the Top 10 films on Netflix, Interceptor. The feature sees the action queen starring as a brave military officer hoping to put an end to a terroristic nuclear attack on the United States. The bad guys have stolen a slew of missiles that they plan to use to decimate their target with, but Pataky’s character will stop at nothing to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Pataky stars alongside Luke Bracey in the action flick helmed by Matthew Reilly with a script that Reilly penned with Stuart Beattie. The ensemble cast is made up of Aaron Glenane, Mayen Mehta, Rhys Muldoon, Belinda Jombwe, Marcus Johnson, Colin Friels, and Zoe Carides. In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, Chris Hemsworth also appears in his wife’s newest film as a television store sales clerk. Pataky revealed that she trained alongside the ripped Hemsworth for five hours each day in order to get into shape for the role. Hemsworth also served the film as one of the executive producers.
If our predictions are right, Chris Hemsworth’s wife won’t be the only one in the family with a Top-10 film on the streaming platform within the next week. Tomorrow, Hemsworth has a highly anticipated action thriller dropping on Netflix titled Spiderhead. Helmed by Top Gun: Maverick director, Joseph Kosinski, the feature will star Hemsworth, Miles Teller, Bebe Bettencourt, and Jurnee Smollett in a psychological thriller that promises to deliver Hemsworth in a role like we’ve never seen before. The film will center around a top-secret prison where Hemsworth’s mad scientist character, Dr. Steve Abnesti, performs mental and emotional altering experiments on the inmates, often to disastrous outcomes. The feature looks to be another hit for Netflix who seem to be taking over the film game one step at a time.
As for Pataky’s new flick, it’s been met with mixed reviews. Chris Hemsworth’s wife’s latest project has clocked in a 44% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and although it’s been deemed to be a great high-action adventure flick, the reviewers also mentioned that it didn’t add anything new to the genre. Nonetheless, it’s still crushing on Netflix, meaning audiences must be intrigued by something, whether that be the acting performances, storylines, or high octane stunts.
Along with her time flying high in Interceptor, Pataky is well known for her turn as Elena Neves in the Fast & Furious franchise. She also holds credits in Snakes on a Plane, Giallo, and Give ‘Em Hell. A match made in action star heaven, Chris Hemsworth and his wife have been married since 2010 after being introduced by a talent agent earlier that year. Upon their first meeting, things just seemed to add up for the couple who have been inseparable ever since. If you’re a fan of loud, in-your-face action films, head over to Netflix and check out why Interceptor has found itself on the streamer’s Top-10 most watched features.
