Chris Hemsworth Confirms Showdown With Marvel’s Biggest Villain?
Chris Hemsworth teased a showdown with Kang the Conqueror on his Twitter page.
The world is currently in a bit of a holding pattern when it comes to knowing for sure if Chris Hemsworth is going to be returning as Thor. While we all wait, it appears the man has already confirmed his return and issued a threat to Marvel’s biggest villain: Kang the Conqueror. A new exclusive clip for Ant-Man 3 shows Kang speaking to Scott Lang about the Avengers, and confuses him for Thor, which has now caught the attention of Hemsworth.
Chris Hemsworth quips back with Kang’s burn about the Avengers with a line stated by Thor in Avengers: Infinity War. Although this is certainly a clever response, we are not sure if the two will ever meet. Jonathan Majors did state in a previous interview that Thor would be the first person that Kang the Conqueror would actively seek to fight, with majors adding, “I think we have to start with Thor… Bring it… I’m not afraid of Chris Hemsworth.” However, Hemsworth has a much different idea about the future of Thor Odinson.
Chris Hemsworth does believe that Thor’s next MCU appearance will see the death of the character, but could that be because he has a showdown with Kang? Kang is meant to be the next big baddie of the MCU, and it would make sense for him to do away with a few of the original Avengers team, to make way for a new team. Kang does have his own titled movie coming out, which is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
This new movie means that Kang is certainly going to fight the Avengers, though we are not sure who is going to comprise the new team. While it might sound like a bit of blasphemy, we would like to see Chris Hemsworth’s Thor sacrifice himself for the greater good before the events of Secret Wars can take place. Hemsworth also believes that Marvel is set to “close the book on Thor,” and what is a better way than to give him a hero’s death?
There are a lot of different variations of the Avengers team, and we are certainly going to be seeing the makings of a new team during this new Phase 5 of movies and shows from Marvel. Though Chris Hemsworth’s Thor might not be part of the future plans of the team, we would still like to see him take on Kang the Conqueror. That would certainly be an epic battle, and it would showcase just how powerful Kang is if he is to single-handedly kill the God of Thunder.
We are not sure what is going to happen, but some questions will be answered when Ant-Man 3 is released, which is starting tonight via “midnight” showings around the country, with the official release happening tomorrow. Chris Hemsworth might be showing up as Thor in the movie, but we certainly expect to see some huge cameos, which will set up the next few big movies in the MCU plans. Thor might not see another solo movie, but expect him to be a major player in future Marvel entries.
