Chris Hemsworth has starred in one of the biggest franchises ever as an Asgardian God of all people, so it’s not all that surprising that physical fitness would be high on his list of priorities. It’s kind of a prerequisite really and just one of the main reasons he locked down the gig, to begin with. He’s still very much in that role, but he’s got another budding franchise that requires its own proverbial lift. That’s what he’s got going with Extraction 2. Hemsworth has been quick to share some of the work that goes into preparing for these kinds of movies.
Posting on Instagram, Chris Hemsworth shared a picture of him mid-workout and practically popping out of his skin. The look on his face (and the definition in his arms and chest) really says it all here with Hemsworth clearly doing everything it takes to make sure he is in peak physical condition. It’s working. In addition to prepping for his movies, Chris Hemsworth is also promoting his fitness company Centr. It’s an app and fitness program developed by Hemsworth and others that focus on not only workout regimens, but diets as well. The plan is for it to be an all-in-one, well, center for physical fitness and body improvement with the Marvel actor at the forefront. You can see that Hemsworth tagged the company in the above post.
The movie Chris Hemsworth is currently filming, Extraction 2, will return him to the role of Tyler Rake. Thought dead at the end of the first film, the character miraculously survived and will be off on another mission sooner than later. This time it looks like the climate will be a colder one with Hemsworth and company beginning filming in Prague at the end of last year. The actor had a number of posts highlighting his time there and some teaser trailers have come out around the sequel already.
The original Extraction was a major hit for Netflix the first time around, garnering some of the biggest streaming numbers the platform had seen. Directed by Sam Hargrave and produced by Anthony and Joe Russo of Marvel and Avengers’ fame, the flick was just non-stop action with Chris Hemsworth bringing just enough heart to the trained killer.
In addition to Extraction 2, Chris Hemsworth has another massive production on the way this year. Thor: Love and Thunder is due out this summer and will further that character’s story. Directed by Taika Waititi, it’s easy to get excited for this film after the success the two had with Thor: Ragnarok. The Guardians of the Galaxy will be featured in this one and Tessa Thompson is set to return as Valkyrie. It will also introduce Christian Bale to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Gorr the God Butcher. But the big news is that Natalie Portman is back as Jane Foster and this movie will transition her into the Mighty Thor character.
