With plenty of upcoming projects on the agenda, Netflix has one particular action flick exciting everyone. Netflix’s promo depicts Chris Evans in the upcoming action flick around the 00:58 timestamp. Looking more like Top Gun’s beloved Goose, Chris Evans has come a long way from the pretty boy coined with possessing “America’s a**”. Most of the film’s footage strewn in the preview showcases the sure-to-be action-packed scenes, and even more dialogue from Evan’s counterpart, Ryan Gosling. However, the duo shares a fitting line, as Gosling’s character tells Evans that he “already” doesn’t like him, to which Evans responds, “Right back at you sunshine.” You can see the clip in full below.
The Gray Man is one of Netflix’s most anticipated films being released this year. Directed by the famed dynamic brotherly duo known as the Russo Brothers, the directors will once again showcase Chris Evans in all his acting glory. A sure favorite of the directors, Evans has previously worked with the Russos on Marvel projects. The Russo’s are the directors behind some of the MCU’s most acclaimed work, including both Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. Other than film, the brothers are prestigious for their work directing popular TV series Arrested Development and Community, whose actors often crossover into Marvel’s work. Most recently, the Russo brothers worked with another Marvel superhero, as they helmed the 2021 film Cherry starring Tom Holland.
The Gray Man will be based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Mark Greaney. Ryan Gosling will play the film’s protagonist, Court Gentry. As a veteran CIA operative, Gentry is betrayed by his own agency, forcing him to become a fugitive. Chris Evans’ Loyd Hansen, a former colleague at the agency, is tasked with hunting him down. The film has a long history, with original plans for the novel being converted to film stemming back to 2011. Originally, Brad Pitt was cast to star in the movie with James Gray directing. However, after years of no development, eventually, the project was put in the hands of the Russo brothers, who initially made plans in 2015 to put Charlize Theron in a gender-swapped version.
Other than displaying what will surely become Hollywood’s next big bromance of Gosling and Chris Evans, The Gray Man will also star Evans’ Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page of Netflix’s Bridgerton, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush, Julia Butters, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, and Michael Gandolfini. If successful, The Gray Man could finally lead Netflix to a major successful franchise, as plans for so have been rumored and the Russo brothers have no shortage of source material given Greaney’s ten novels. Set with a June release date on Netflix, The Gray Man will likely be the biggest summer action film to look for this year.
