When Charlize Theron first hit Hollywood, she was typically typecast as the girlfriend or the wife, any role that would take advantage of her stunning beauty. These roles consisted of small parts in films like Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (which was her first starring role), the Tom Hanks film That Thing You Do!, and Trial and Error which starred Seinfeld’s Michael Richards and Jeff Daniels. As time went on and her career began to flourish, it became more about her amazing talent than just her good looks.
This was never more apparent when Charlize Theron took on the 2003 role in Monster, a true story based on the life of Daytona Beach prostitute Aileen Wuornos, the infamous serial killer. For that role, Theron shunned her beauty by gaining weight and wearing prosthetic makeup. It eventually brought her an Academy Award for Best Actress.

The Old Guard stars Charlize Theron as Andromache of Scythia, an immortal mercenary who, along with her team of immortals, seeks revenge on the man who wants to use their power for his own gain. Harry Melling is Merrick, the big bad guy who is trying to capture the immortals in order to study them and harness their immortality.
KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Chiwetel Ejiofor also star in this Netflix original that is also producing The Old Guard 2.

The Italian Job (2003)
The Italian Job is one of Charlize Theron’s earlier action films that premiered the same year as Theron’s Monster. The film is an American remake of a British film from 1969 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Jason Statham, Edward Norton, Seth Green, and Donald Sutherland.
The story flows a group of thieves who plan on stealing $35 million worth of gold bullion from a vault in Venice, Italy. This vault belongs to Italian gangsters who just stole the gold for themselves a week prior.
Theron plays Stella Bridger, the daughter of Sutherland’s John Bridger. Both are expert safecrackers, using different methods to open safes.

The School for Good and Evil (2022)
The School for Good and Evil is a Netflix original film based on the Soman Chainani 2013 novel of the same name. It tells the story of two best friends, Sophie and Agatha, who learn about the school from a bookshop owner. Agatha doesn’t believe in it, but Sophie does.
One night, Sophie decides to run away from her village while Agatha attempts to stop her. They are taken by a giant stymph and transported to the school. The problem comes when Sophie, the one who dreams of being a princess, gets dropped off at the Evil side of the school while Agatha, the skeptical one, is dropped on the Good side.
Charlize Theron is Lady Leonora Lesso, the dean of the School for Evil.

Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
Charlize Theron does evil very well and she really showcases it in Snow White and the Huntsman. Here Theron plays Queen Ravenna, the evil stepmother to Snow White (Kristen Stewart). Now, this is not a live-action Disney remake, nor is it affiliated with Disney in any way, so the story has a bit of a different flavor to it.
Chris Hemsworth is Eric the Huntsman, a widower who is approached by the Queen to capture Snow White and in return, the Queen promises to bring Eric’s wife back to life. Theron reprised her role as Ravenna in the 2016 sequel, The Huntsman: Winter’s War.
