Chadwick Boseman Is Receiving A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame
The late Chadwick Boseman is one of eight actors receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman will receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Boseman is one of eight actors being honored with a star for their contributions to motion pictures. This includes Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, Gal Gadot, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Chris Meledandri, Chris Pine, and Christina Ricci.
The Walk of Fame Selection Panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce chose the honorees in early June. According to IGN, the television category includes Schitt’s Creek co-creator and star Eugene Levy, actress and activist Kerry Washington, and doctor-turned-comedian Ken Jeong.
Mario Lopez, Jim Nantz, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Michael Schur, Raúl De Molina, and Lili Estefan will also be honored.
Chadwick Boseman emerged as one of Hollywood’s most prolific success stories, leaving an indelible mark on the industry through his portrayal of King T’Challa/Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor made his superhero debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, followed by appearances in the Avengers movies Infinity War and Endgame.
However, Chadwick Boseman’s most noteworthy achievement came with his leading role in the 2018 film Black Panther, which earned widespread praise and achieved remarkable success within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie earned a staggering $1.344 billion at the global box office and received three prestigious Academy Awards, solidifying the actor’s legacy.
In August 2022, before filming for the highly anticipated Black Panther sequel, Wakanda Forever could begin, Chadwick Boseman passed away after losing his battle with colon cancer. The movie paid tribute to the actor, as his character T’Challa died from an undisclosed illness at the beginning of the film.
Unused footage of Boseman and flashbacks from the original movie were also included in the sequel.
Wakanda Forever received a warm reception from audiences, earning an impressive $859.2 million at the box office, and even won an Academy Award. Along with his notable contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chadwick Boseman left an indelible mark on the film industry through his roles in various movies.
Chadwick Boseman portrayed the legendary Jackie Robinson in the biopic 42, Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, and James Brown in Get On Up. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, his final on-screen appearance, earned Boseman a posthumous nomination for Best Actor at the 93rd Academy Awards while winning a Golden Globe for his work on the film.
However, the actor’s unwavering dedication to his community made him a real hero. In 2022, the Chadwick Boseman Foundation for the Arts was established to uphold his legacy and support the intellectual, spiritual, and artistic growth of individuals within the African diaspora.
As such, Boseman will be remembered as one of the most beloved actors of all time.
Following Chadwick Boseman’s death, the mantle of the Black Panther was assumed by his on-screen sister, Shuri, portrayed by Letitia Wright. The actress openly discussed the profound emotional impact that making Wakanda Forever had on everyone involved due to Boseman’s absence.
She recently alluded to a third installment in the Black Panther franchise but later recanted her comments.
