Catwoman Will Appear In Zack Snyder’s Justice League
Joining an already packed cast, a new rumor hints that Catwoman might be joining Zack Snyder's new Justice League cut for HBO Max.
Catwoman has seen her share of iterations over the years. It started with Julie Newmar on the campy 60’s Batman, then Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns, Halle Berry in Catwoman, and finally Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises. The character has seen her share of new faces and outfit changes with even more to come. Recent news has the feline-inspired craft and clever character coming to Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
The director led the rumors when he posted art of Batman and Catwoman face-to-face in the pouring rain. He also lent credence to the rumors that it would be Carla Gugino in the role, saying she’d be “perfect”. Gugino worked with Snyder on Watchmen where she played Silk Spectre, so with some superhero experience already, putting her in the catsuit isn’t a reach.
After Zack Snyder left the original Justice League because of the death of his daughter, Joss Whedon took over reshoots and essentially reshaped the movie. It ended up a far cry from the original vision and led to quite poor critical and fan reception. But Snyder is back now, developing the original into an extended cut that will air on HBO Max.
Along the way, there have been plenty of intriguing news pieces outside of this most recent Catwoman nugget. Most recently, we got word that Martian Manhunter would appear in Justice League, played by Harry Lennix in the role of Calvin Swanwick, who’d been masquerading as military brass. Add in Catwoman and we are starting to get positively overloaded with news about what to expect from Snyder’s cut. There were also rumors that Ryan Reynolds could reprise his role as Green Lantern in the movie as well. That is still a rumor, but his inclusion would really round out the League.
Considering the nature of this coming production and just how big it’s getting in scope, we may end up seeing the entirety of the DC Universe in the show when it’s all said and done. Rumors seem to come out once a week about a new character either being added to the production or some speculation about where the story could go. It’s really becoming something and could be the television/streaming event of the year.

This also isn’t to be confused with another recent Catwoman casting. We already know Zoë Kravitz will play the role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the titular cowled crimefighter. That movie exists outside of the DC Universe’s Justice League timeline. It has no overlap with what we are getting in Snyder’s cut. The Batman is also receiving its own HBO Max prequel series, but it’s unclear if Kravitz’s Catwoman will also appear in that show as well.
Justice League is slated to hit HBO Max in 2021 and is reportedly going to come out as four separate, one-hour episodes over the course of the month. The filming is still shrouded in secrecy, but based on all of the rumors, it’s shaping up to be quite the spectacle. I very much doubt Catwoman is the last rumor we get about who could appear in the story.
