Cat-Banana Hybrids Head Around The World In Adorable Anime Series
Bananya Around the World brings back the famous Bananya, a mysterious cat who lives inside a banana. The story starts with a magical ball of light appearing before Bananya and creating a new cat called Baby Sweet. The two become close friends and start on their journey all over the globe.
A short promotional video came with the announcement for Bananya Around the World, showing Bananya and Baby Sweet meeting up and getting to know one another.
Bananya Around the World is actually the third season of the Bananya series. If you’ve not heard of this show, it focuses primarily on Bananya, a kitten who lives and stays inside of a banana. He has dreams of becoming a delicious dessert covered in chocolate.
He’s not the only strange kitten, though. There are many other bananya friends who run around having adventures when people aren’t nearby. The newest season, Bananya Around the World, follows the same lighthearted, slice-of-life story as the previous seasons, perfect for people of all ages, though it is primarily aimed at young children.
The first season of the anime aired in 2016, and the second in 2019.
Bananya Around the World is actually the third season of the Bananya series.
Lesprit Studio (How Clumsy You Are, Miss Ueno) is the team behind the animation for Bananya Around the World, with Kyo Yatate (Mitchiri Neko) working as a returning director and Masahiro Takata (Run with the Wind) in charge of the series composition. Despite not having much actual dialogue, if any, there are voice actors for the individual kittens. So far, it’s been confirmed that Yuuki Kaji (Accel World) will voice Bananya, and Ayumu Murase (Dr. Stone) will be the voice of Baby Sweet.
Kyo Yatate has handled the series since the beginning, writing, producing, and directing the first series with the help of Gathering Studio (The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls). The second season is when Masahiro Takata joined as the scriptwriter, also with Gathering as the studio behind the animation. It wasn’t until this third season, Bananya Around the World, that Lesprit took over for animation.
Also, Bananya Around the World may have a strange schedule, with it announced that the first few episodes will air in October, but the rest will come at a later date…
The series is set to have a global release. It will air in October 2024 and be available in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, CIS, the Indian subcontinent, and the Middle East. Crunchyroll will be in charge of airing Bananya Around the World in North America when it airs.
In the meantime, the two seasons before Bananya Around the World are already available on Crunchyroll.
As for when it will air, there’s no exact date yet. Though it is set to come out sometime in October, it remains to be seen when. Also, Bananya Around the World may have a strange schedule, with it announced that the first few episodes will air in October, but the rest will come at a later date, though again, there were no specifics provided on what a later date would mean.
In the meantime, the two seasons before Bananya Around the World are already available on Crunchyroll. Titled Bananya and Bananya and the Curious Bunch, you can watch both seasons on the platform. Both contain 13 episodes, though they are shorter than traditional anime episodes.
