Kyle Carrozza, a creator and animator for Cartoon Network, Disney, PBS Kids, and Nickelodeon, has been arrested on two charges of possession of explicit images of children. Carrozza was arrested in Burbank, California, on June 20, now there’s reports on the charges based on arrest records from the Burbank Police Department. Both Carrozza’s rep and Cartoon Network were reached out to for comment from USA Today, but there has been no response.

Ground-Breaking Web Series

Kyle Carrozza is best known for creating the Cartoon Network series Mighty Magiswords, which was the first online series for the channel. The series first aired web shorts in 2015 before it ended up getting a full-length series in 2016 that ended in 2019. The series followed Prohyas Robert Warrior (voiced by Carrozza) and Vambre Marie Warrior, who were Warriors for Hire who adventured and searched for the magical Magiswords.

Carrozza Was Involved With Lots Of Cartoons

In addition to creating and voice acting on his series Mighty Magiswords, Kyle Carrozza also acted as composer and executive producer on the show. Carrozza also has been a storyboard artist and animator on a wide variety of cartoon shows. Some of his notable credits include Adventure Time, the reboot of Animaniacs, Doc McStuffins, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Fish Hooks, Danger Rangers, and Teen Titans Go!.

Mighty Magiswords ran for 92 episodes. The series received mostly mixed reviews. However, it was considered successful as an initial online series for Kyle Carrozza and Cartoon Network.

Cutting Ties With Carrozza

Kyle Carrozza also did animation work for the 2015 SpongeBob movie The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. In light of the arrest charges against Carrozza, Mighty Magiswords storyboard artist Luke Sienkowski said he’d no longer be working with Carrozza and that the animation podcast the two both share would be taken down. The Funny Music Project, which published songs recorded by Carrozza, stated that it would also be cutting ties with him.

Possession of explicit photos and videos can be classified as either a misdemeanor or a felony in the state of California. If convicted, Kyle Carrozza could face a sentence of up to one year in county jail or up to five years in state prison. A $2,500 fine may also be administered depending on the verdict.

The Legal Case

Additional details of Kyle Carrozza’s arrest stated that he was charged under California’s penal code 311.11(a), which is a code related to the possession of explicit images of children. The other charge is an enhanced 311.11(c) charge, which specifies individuals who are knowingly in possession of at least 12 videos or 600 explicit images of children.

In addition to the previously mentioned punishments, Carrozza will be ordered to register with law enforcement as a sex offender if found guilty of either charge.

More Information Still To Come

As mentioned, networks like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon have yet to comment on the arrest, but presumably plenty of outlets are reaching out for comment. Kyle Carrozza is primarily known for his work at Cartoon Network with Mighty Magiswords, so it seems likely some statement will come out in the near future. In the meantime, details of a court date have yet to be released.
