Captain America 4 Villain To Be Played By Maze Runner Star
The Serpent Society in Captain America 4 will include Seth Rollins and Rosa Salazaar as Diamondback.
Marvel has been hard at work obfuscating the cast of Captain America 4, in an effort to surprise audiences with the members of the Serpent Society on the big screen. According to an exclusive scoop courtesy of Murphy’s Multiverse, photographer Christopher Oquendo spotted some of the on-screen talent while scouting for behind-the-scenes images at the Brown Airport shooting location. According to photos taken by Oquendo, WWE star Seth Rollins alongside The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials and Alita: Battle Angel star Rosa Salazar have been cast as the villains for the upcoming Marvel film.
Given that many of the actors in the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe are returning to reprise their characters in new installments of the series, it is always exciting news when a newcomer joins the Marvel family. While we don’t yet know what exactly the role of the Serpent Society will be in Captain America 4, Rosa Salazar’s many talents would be highly appreciated as a repeat character, making many fans wonder just how impactful her character will be in the film. Other fans still are concerned that Salazar’s talents may be squandered in the villainous role, as the actor has already signed on for a significant commitment to film the upcoming Alita: Battle Angel sequel.
Even well-respected Hollywood A-listers such as Charlize Theron aren’t safe from Marvel’s potential axing, leaving fans wondering how Captain America 4 will utilize its characters relative to other recent films in the Marvel franchise. For years, Marvel has wowed audiences with incredible spectacle, drawing massive crowds with each new outing, though recent stabs at relevancy with films such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Thor: Love and Thunder have failed to make as big a splash as Marvel would hope.
Most fans and creators alike are citing superhero fatigue as a main cause for the sudden lack of passion in the MCU, though others see recent films such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to be a return to form, signaling an improvement in upcoming outings in the franchise.
In the Marvel comics, the Serpent Society appears in multiple issues to face off against Captain America and the Avengers, serving as long-term antagonists which could breathe some fresh life into the current state of Marvel affairs. In fact, the character Diamondback, who Rosa Salazar is suspected to be portraying, has a long and complicated history with Steve Rogers, once even engaging in a romantic relationship with the Star-Spangled Avenger. Of course, with Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson taking on the mantle in Captain America 4, fans are wondering which elements of this plot line will be ported over to the film, and which will be left on the cutting room floor.
As for now, very little information about Captain America 4 is publicly available, leaving fans squirming in their chairs awaiting the film’s May 2024 release. The casting of Seth Freakin’ Rollins and Rosa Salazar is exciting news, but it is still but a crumb of information surrounding a film whose plot is almost completely unknown.
