A lot of the talk around Captain America 4 has focused on whether Chris Evans may appear and what the future holds for Anthony Mackie’s character. As with any Marvel movie, the other important factor that’s going to define the plot will be the villain. We’ve already heard that Red Skull may be in the mix. Now, sources for We Got This Covered are saying that they know who will the villain for the movie will be and that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier set everything up for the Marvel movie. They’re hearing that the Power Broker, aka, Sharon Carter, will be a big problem for Sam Wilson in Captain America 4.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we hadn’t seen Sharon Carter in a little while. The actress, Emily VanCamp, was last seen in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. She was at Peggy Carter’s funeral. There, she revealed to Steve Rogers that she was Peggy Carter’s niece. She gave a eulogy for her aunt. Then, she kissed Steve Rogers and disappeared. It honestly seemed like we would likely never see her again. We definitely wouldn’t have been guessing that she would appear in Captain America 4. Then, she appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with Anthony Mackie.
While her character has been met with mixed reviews, her role as the Power Broker was one of the bigger reveals of the season. With her part in the series, it seems like it must be setting up more for her in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Particularly, with Anthony Mackie and Captain America 4. And if what We Got This Covered proves true, that would make sense.
So, from what we’ve learned, Sharon Carter has become a criminal. And if the rumor proves true, she’ll be causing problems for Anthony Mackie in Captain America 4. Still, it seems more likely that her character will be a problem that makes the new Captain America’s problems more difficult. Meaning, she’ll be a secondary villain or issue, as opposed to the main issue Anthony Mackie’s character is facing. While there has been a substantial amount of setup for her issues, it doesn’t like Sharon Carter is enough of a problem for the upcoming film. While she definitely causes trouble, she isn’t likely to lead into the fight scenes Sam Wilson’s Captain America is going to need all on her own.
While she may or may not be Anthony Mackie’s main villain in Captain America 4, it seems likely she’ll be in the film and in a central role. We’ll likely be learning more of her secrets and see her working on creating more of them. Will she be working with another major Marvel Cinematic Universe villain? Providing weapons? Is she a Skrull? Naturally, a lot of people think that’s a possibility. Others have suggested that isn’t what’s happening at all. That she’s working for Nick Fury, and a whole lot more is still needing to be revealed.
Whether you loved or hated Sharon Carter’s role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it seems very likely that she’ll be in Captain America 4 and causing trouble for Anthony Mackie on one level or another.
