Since the release of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s blockbuster hit, Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been clamoring for news surrounding the next installment in the Jon Watts-helmed series. And not only have we been waiting to hear what, how, when, and where we can expect to see Tom Holland’s web-slinging hero next, we’re wondering if more movies surrounding multiverse Spideys, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire, will move into action. And we aren’t the only ones. Since Garfield and Maguire reprised their roles, bringing a whole new level to the multiverse, their co-stars are wondering if there’s room for more where that came from. Jurassic World franchise actress Bryce Dallas Howard is one of those left waiting in the wings, suggesting that she would be very down and available should a phone call come through asking her to reprise her role from Sam Raimi’s trilogy.
During a conversation with People, the Lady in the Water star said that returning to her role as Gwen Stacy, a part that she played in Raimi’s 2007 Spider-Man 3 “would be so fun,” adding that she “would always be game.” In what’s considered by many to be the most ridiculous and over-the-top of Raimi’s trilogy, Spider-Man 3 saw Maguire’s hero rescuing and subsequently smooching Bryce Dallas Howard’s Gwen Stacy, much to the dismay of Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst).
While she only appeared as a minor character in Raimi’s third and final chapter in his Spider-Man series, it’s possible that we could see Bryce Dallas Howard again in another film sometime in the future. No Way Home provided closure for Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, who in his own films, failed to save the life of his love interest, Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy. During the final battle against Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) in the latest Watts-directed superhero flick, audiences held their breath as Garfield’s Peter Parker rescued Zendaya’s MJ from a fall that would have ended her life, bringing the character the redemption he had been searching for.
Following the immense success of No Way Home, fans called on the studio to resurrect Marc Webb’s take on the story and bring in a third movie. This could be one way in which we would see Bryce Dallas Howard reprise her role as the blonde love-interest of Peter Parker should she be brought in through the multiverse. While it would be a grim and traumatizing meeting for Garfield’s character and Dallas’ take on Gwen, it’s something completely within the realm of possibilities.
There’s also a chance that Bryce Dallas Howard’s Gwen Stacy could show up in future Tom Holland-led features or even an entirely different MCU movie. Now that the doors of the multiverse are open, there’s no telling who may stroll through them. It would be incredibly interesting to see Garfield’s Spider-Man interact with a Gwen other than Stone while he’s still grappling with his own grief and heartache following the death of his loved one. With no news surrounding when we can expect to see another Watts film, or what kind of a plot is in the works, the sky’s the limit on who may be zapping in, or out, of the next feature.
