Bruce Willis Has The #1 Movie On Streaming
The Die Hard star may be retiring, but he isn’t done just yet and the streaming numbers prove it. Bruce Willis’ action film Wrong Place is currently the #1 streamed movie on Hulu according to numbers from FlixPatrol. The chart puts the flick above the Oscar-contender Everything Everywhere All at Once, Florence Pugh‘s Don’t Worry Darling, and holiday favorites like Jingle All the Way and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Bruce Willis plays Frank Richardson in the film — a former small town police chief turned security guard. Frank has no reason to be involved in the crimes of a meth cook, but as the title of the actioner suggests, he just happens to be there when Virgil (Massi Furlan, The Dark Knight Rises) has a gun to another man’s head. With no security cameras around, Frank becomes the only witness to the crime and that puts him and his family in a dangerous situation.
Enter Ashley Greene known for playing Alice Cullen in the Twilight film series. In Wrong Place, Greene plays Bruce Willis’ daughter Chloe who is targeted once Frank refuses to play ball with the bad guys. Even though Willis is the bigger star, Greene actually leads the film as she battles Michael Sirow’s (Jack Goes Home) Jake who tries to use her as leverage against Frank.
Wrong Place is one of the long list of low budget features Bruce Willis has made at the end of his career, including his recent reunion with his old friend and Pulp Fiction co-star John Travolta in Paradise City. These aren’t films that will be making any critics’ top 10 list of the year, and they aren’t meant to be. They’re quick, fun, and have no illusions about being elevated art.
In the history of Bruce Willis’ career, Wrong Place marks an unfortunate landmark–it’s the movie during whose filming the actor’s health took such a dramatic turn that the director, Mike Burns, said he wouldn’t work with Willis again.
When news first broke of Bruce Willis’ aphasia diagnosis, the LA Times (via Vanity Fair) released a report quoting cast and crew from many of the quick and dirty action flicks the actor had been making. Mike Burns, who’d previously worked with Willis on 2021’s Out of Death, said the actor was in poor health during the making of that film, and he had been assured the star was doing better when it came time to make Wrong Place.
“I didn’t think he was better; I thought he was worse,” Burns said. “After we finished, I said: ‘I’m done. I’m not going to do any other Bruce Willis movies.’ I am relieved that he is taking time off.”
