The Marvels Trailer Makes History As The MCU’s Most Disliked Trailer Of All Time
Brie Larson's teaser trailer for The Marvels is officially the most disliked MCU trailer.
Brie Larson’s upcoming MCU film The Marvels just dropped its first teaser trailer, and the reactions are mostly positive. However, the detractors are out in force too, and have managed to make it the most disliked MCU trailer yet. According to GameRant, the trailer has over 400,000 likes and roughly 375,000 dislikes.
While the positive reactions have the majority, it’s still closer than many MCU trailers in the past. While there’s no way to say for certain, this definitely seems like a case of review-bombing by the trolls. It’s something that Brie Larson has dealt with since she’s taken on the role of Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers.
This becomes especially apparent when you scroll down to the comments. While the comments with the most likes have positive things to say about the movie, there are floods of comments pouring in where commentators pull a quote or scene from another movie and act like it’s happening in The Marvels trailer. It definitely seems like Brie Larson’s ongoing battle with the trolls won’t be ending with this film.
If the review-bombing isn’t a result of trolls, there’s not really any other reason the Brie Larson-starring trailer should be getting such a negative reaction. The trailer doesn’t do anything mind-blowing, but the action is pretty fun, and fan-favorite characters like Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau, and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury get plenty of screen-time. It may not end up being the best Marvel movie yet, but it also seems like it will be a fun and enjoyable action film overall.
The Marvels will follow Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel as she suddenly starts switching places with Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau anytime they use their powers. The place-switching seems like it could lead to some pretty inventive action scenes. This is noted by quite a few of the YouTube comments on the trailer, but they’re mostly getting drowned out by the troll comments.
The Marvels is directed by Nia DaCosta based on a script she co-wrote with Gene Colan and Elissa Karasik. Along with Brie Larson, Vellani, Parris, and Jackson, the film stars Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-Joon. The film is set to hit theaters on November 10.
Brie Larson may be busy shaking off the trolls in the near future, but we’ll get to see her on the big screen again way before November. Larson is one of the new actors joining the Fast & Furious franchise in the upcoming Fast X, which is set for a May 19 release date. Larson joins the cast along with other newcomers like Jason Mamoa, Rita Moreno, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, and Leo Abelo Perry.
Another exciting bit of recent news is that Brie Larson will be returning to one of her best roles as Envy Adams in the upcoming Scott Pilgrim anime series for Netflix. No word on when we can expect that, but Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Kieran Culkin, Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick, and the rest of the main cast is also set to return. Stay tuned for updates on that, The Marvels, and the rest of Larson’s upcoming projects.
