Exclusive: Brie Larson Starring In The Crusader For Ridley Scott, Plot Revealed
We've learned Brie Larson is leading the cast of The Crusader, an upcoming thriller directed by Ridley Scott.
In the MCU she may show up mainly for sci-fi action epics, but outside Marvel‘s narrative she’s getting the taste for the thriller genre. Our trusted and proven sources tell us that Brie Larson is boarding the upcoming thriller The Crusader, which will be directed by one of the busiest filmmakers in Hollywood, Ridley Scott. The film will be produced through a partnership between Sony and Apple.
In spite of its name and in spite of Scott being known for directing quite a few historical epics — including 2005’s Kingdom of Heaven which is literally set during the Third Crusade — The Crusader won’t find Brie Larson in the distant past. Instead, she’ll be playing a journalist investigating a corrupt religious organization. We don’t know exactly which religious organization she’ll be looking into, but whoever they are, they apparently don’t mind the idea of targeting her for assassination in order to keep their secrets.
The Crusader will mark Brie Larson’s first collaboration with Ridley Scott, which is almost shocking considering how prolific Scott continues to be. In spite of being 85 years old, the Blade Runner director seems to have no intention of slowing down.
Scott came out of the pandemic ready to play: delivering both The Last Duel and the Oscar contender The House of Gucci in 2021. Rather than sitting on his laurels, he quickly moved on to as of yet unreleased films including Napoleon starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular French emperor, and Gladiator 2. Then there are the upcoming screen projects he acts as producer on, including Alien: Romulus and the spinoff TV series Blade Runner 2099.
By the time she’s done working on The Crusader, Brie Larson will be a regular thriller veteran. We’ve also received word that the Captain Marvel star is reuniting with Samuel L. Jackson for the Netflix thriller The Forgotten, and she’ll likewise be working with the streamer on the psychological thriller The Mind’s Eye.
But before any of that, Brie Larson will have some other premieres to celebrate. Most notably,. she’ll return to the role that made her a household name with November’s release of The Marvels. The sequel to Captain Marvel finds Carol Danvers teaming up with Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), the daughter of her late friend Maria (Lashana Lynch).
Shortly before or after The Marvels (there’s no firm release date yet), Brie Larson will star in Apple TV+’s Lessons in Chemistry, a series based on the Bonnie Garmus novel of the same name.
