Official Captain Marvel 2 Synopsis Makes It Seem Like An Ensemble, Not Brie Larson’s Movie

After Captain Marvel debuted in 2019, while many Marvel Cinematic Universe fans liked Brie Larson as the new superhero, they complained that her life story was never fully explored and too much attention was paid to her heroic adventures. The next time we saw her was at the end of Avengers: Infinity War and as she flitted in and out of Avengers: Endgame– quite a jump from her story in the 90s to the early 2020s. It was hoped that the next Captain Marvel film would rectify the error and solely shed light on the years lost but if The Marvels’ synopsis is anything to go by, it sounds more like an ensemble than something that would give proper attention to Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers.
The new title of Captain Marvel 2 was recently revealed to be The Marvels, which in itself established that Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel will be joining Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) in the upcoming sequel. And now, a new logline, shared by ComicBookMovie about the film has cropped up which confirms that Brie Larson will indeed be joined by the other two “Marvels.” But the way, the mini synopsis has been articulated conveys a storyline where all three characters will be sharing the spotlight instead of just Brie Larson.
The logline states that The Marvels will feature Brie Larson, reprising her role of Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers, will be joined by Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel. The logline affords no extra significance to Captain Marvel, suggesting that all the three characters are going to be equally important in the film as they go on a new cosmic adventure together.
“Prepare to experience it and fly higher, further, and faster with the film, directed by Nia DaCosta!” adds the logline.
We have already met the adult Monica Rambeau in WandaVision and seen her attain her powers when she forced herself through Wanda’s “Hex.” It was also hinted that contrary to their earlier close bond, Monica and Brie Larson’s Carol now share a strained relationship. Now whether that’s because of Carol not being there when Maria Rambeau passed away or due to something else will also be explored in The Marvels. We will be meeting Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel in the upcoming Disney+ series, Ms Marvel, which is going to lead to Captain Marvel 2.
Apart from this, the plot of Captain Marvel 2 and what part will Brie Larson’s superhero play in this ensemble film is pretty much unknown. All we know, that WandaVision creator Matt Shaktman has shared, is that The Marvels will connect to both WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Given the latter’s rather revealing title, it is expected that we will see Doctor Strange trying to contain a chaotic multiverse quite possibly fractured by Wanda who will be searching for her twins. And in case he is unable to undo the damage, will we see its effects in The Marvels? Only time will tell.
The Marvels is currently scheduled to release in theaters on November 11, 2022.
