The Book of Boba Fettis going to have a major cameo from a critical The Mandalorian character. It really helps round the story into shape.

Disney runs Lucasfilm with the same iron grip keeping Marvel Studios in line, and it’s working. The Book of Boba Fett is wrapping up filming soon and yet there’s little we’ve been able to divine about the plot, characters, and central conflict. There’s Temuera Morrison’s Boba and Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand, but no word on anything or anyone else. The production crew has been spotted shooting on location and installing (and taking down) sets, but details remain as vague as the rest of Lucasfilm’s upcoming slate of films and streaming exclusives. Internet sleuths discovered something curious, however. Crewmen were recently found wearing Buccaneer shirts. The back says Buccaneer Season 1 and is emblazoned with a sketch of Boba Fett cradling Grogu while fending off a group of mercenaries.
For anyone unaware, Lucasfilm often uses fake titles to throw off anyone poking around sets during production, and Buccaneer, initially mistaken for The Mandalorian Season 3, refers to The Book of Boba Fett. The Boba Fett Fan Club did some digging and caught star Temuera Morrison signing posters wearing a Buccaneer shirt. This means only one thing: Grogu is coming to The Book of Boba Fett and will be accompanying Morrison and Wen on their adventures.
Grogu — previously known as The Child — was by far the standout character when he was introduced in the first season of The Mandalorian. The Force-sensitive foundling belongs to the same species as Yoda and served as Din Djarin’s (Pedro Pascal) cherubic little companion up until the end of Season 2 when Grogu was handed over to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) for training. Grogu presumably possesses the same capacity for Force-imbued combat and was adopted by Luke Skywalker in his efforts to revive the Jedi Order. How he lands on The Book of Boba Fett remains to be seen.
Legendary Grand Master Yoda was Skywalker’s mentor while living in Dagobah. His instruction notably helped the young Jedi survive his confrontation with Darth Vader in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. This would make Skywalker’s acquisition deliberate, as Yoda had already become one with the Force years prior. Grogu making an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett raises plenty of questions. How much older will he be on the show? How far has his training progressed? Is he already capable of Force and lightsaber fighting, perhaps in the ways of Ataru — Form IV — like his predecessor?
Since Luke Skywalker is his new guardian, does this mean Mark Hamill will be in The Book of Boba Fett as well? Perhaps as a secret character? Having someone distinguished like Luke Skywalker on board would certainly change the conditions of the show. Is it going to be a cameo, or will Skywalker directly influence the plot?
The Book of Boba Fett takes place between The Mandalorian Seasons 2 and 3, and occurs in the same time period as fellow Star Wars spinoff Ahsoka. It features Temuera Morrison as the titular bounty hunter with Ming-Na Wen co-starring as colleague Fennec Shand. The Mandalorian’s Jon Favreau is producing the show with Executive Creative Director Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and Robert Rodriguez of We Can Be Heroes fame. Principal photography began in late 2020 and is set to conclude this month. The cast and crew filmed in Los Angeles. The series hits Disney+ during the holiday season.
