The Biggest Legal Drama In Netflix History Is Back With A New Season

By Britta DeVore | Updated

It’s been one year since Netflix picked up the first eight seasons of USA Network’s Suits and now subscribers finally have the chance to see how it all ends as the ninth and final season is officially available on the streamer. Last summer, when the legal drama celebrated its Netflix premiere, audiences went crazy for the title, quickly breathing fresh life into the program that wrapped back in 2019. With 10 episodes up for binging, we’ll be interested to find out what the viewership numbers look like by the end of this July 4th weekend.

Suits Season 9 On Netflix

Suits

Going into this last batch of episodes, both the stakes and drama are higher than ever as the law firm, Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams, suffers a crack in its foundation after Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) throws himself at the mercy of the Bar Association to save Harvey (Gabriel Macht). Now, Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl) is left without a mentor to guide her through the difficulties of the profession and will be forced to lean on the firm’s other partners in Robert’s absence.

A Final Chapter Worth Watching

Suits

Along with the return of Macht (Pearson) and Heigl (27 Dresses), those tuning in for the epic conclusion of Suits can expect to see the familiar faces of Rick Hoffman (Thanksgiving), Sarah Rafferty (My Life with the Walter Boys), Amanda Schull (One Tree Hill), Dulé Hill (Psych), and Patrick J. Adams (He Went That Way), who reprises his role as Mike Ross, the character that kicked off the series with his little white lie back in Season 1.

Adams bowed out from the cast of Suits following the show’s seventh season but was a sight for sore eyes by the time he made his brief yet fulfilling appearance in the final chapter.

Award Winning Drama

Suits

Considered to be one of the best drama productions over the last two decades, Suits immediately captivated audiences when it first premiered on the USA Network over a decade ago in 2011. From that moment on, the series only continued to garner widespread acclaim and a dedicated fandom. Raking up nominations and wins at such prestigious events as the SAG Awards and People’s Choice Awards, it soon became a no-brainer for the show to move into franchise territory, which it did with the launching of the 2019 spin-off titled Pearson.

The Short-Lived Pearson Series

Gina Torres starred and also produced the Suits off-shoot which centered around her character, Jessica Pearson, as she strikes out on her own with hopes of becoming one of Chicago’s top attorneys. Unfortunately, Pearson wasn’t met with the same gusto that the creative team was hoping for and it would be axed from USA Network’s slate after just one season.

Suits: LA

Hopefully having learned from their mistakes, the visionary minds behind Suits are dipping into the spin-off game again as, back in October of 2023, it was announced that Universal Television and NBCUniversal would be moving forward with a new project titled Suits: L.A. With Arrow’s Stephen Amell as its star, the show will focus on an entirely new set of personalities now trudging through the sometimes murky waters of law in The City of Angels.

Without the help of Netflix’s 2023 viewership bump, it’s unclear whether Suits: L.A. would have ever gone into development. With a pilot episode already in the works for the offshoot, the networks backing Suits: L.A. appear to be playing their cards just right with the ninth and final season of Suits now available on Netflix.
