The Biggest CW Series Was Shut Down For A Scary Reason
Production for All American was halted on Friday after a shooting occurred near the set of the series in Los Angeles.
The biggest CW series, All American, was in the middle of production in Los Angeles before everything came to a halt for a scary reason. The series has two locations in the Los Angeles area, one of which was involved in a shooting incident, according to Deadline. Based on the concerns from the cast and crew of the series, Warner Bros. TV halted the production and moved it back to the WB lot.
The shooting on the All American set occurred on Friday, around 9 am and at the 5800 block of S. Vermont Avenue. LAPD officials stated that a 48-year-old male was walking through an alleyway when he was approached from behind by a 34-year-old male suspect. The two individuals got into an altercation when the 34-year-old suspect shot the other and fled the scene, and the suspect is still at large.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is said to be in stable condition. The All American series production was halted immediately and then moved to the WB lot for the safety of the cast and crew. So far, no comment has been made by Warner Bros. TV about the scary situation. Thankfully, no one in the cast and crew was injured.
All American is currently filming its sixth season, which is the newest deal for the CW, which is now owned by Nexstar. The series follows Daniel Ezra as Spencer James, a young football player from Crenshaw, who is recruited to play for Beverly High School, which is a vastly different world than he is used to. James must now balance his past life and the current success he is seeing as a star football player.
All American is based on the real-life of Spencer Paysinger and sees James going through situations that Paysinger experienced as a football player growing up. The series has been a hit for the CW, as it is the #1 linear series for the demographic of viewers in the age range of 18-49 years old. New episodes air every Monday at 8 PM EST.
All American stars Taye Diggs, Bre-Z, Monet Mazur, Samantha Logan, Cody Christian, Hunter Clowdus, Michael Evans Behling, and Greta Onieogou. It was created by April Blair, who has famously worked as a writer on Gossip Girl, You, and Wednesday.
Current episodes of All American can be streamed on the CW website, though we would imagine the whole series might become available in the future. This is just speculation, but we would imagine that Nexstar might be wanting to cut deals with streaming platforms to showcase their new programs. The CW is being rebranded, so that could mean more of its new programming could be made available soon.
For now, fans can catch new episodes of All American on Mondays on the CW and catch up on this season via the network’s website. It appears that production for the sixth season is going to remain on the WB lot for right now, but we will certainly let everyone know if the set moves back to the streets of Los Angeles.
