Big Brother 22? Yes, it’s actually happening, though they’re getting a late start. Big Brother fans can rejoice as season 22 of the hit show finally has a premiere date. Better still, they’re finally delivering another All-Stars season.
BUT FIRST… THE PLAYERS
While we know Big Brother 22 will be an All-Stars season we don’t know for sure who will be on it. It’s only rumored names at the moment as CBS has been surprisingly tight-lipped about who will actually be an all-star.
However, on the eve of the Big Brother All-Stars premiere CBS accidentally revealed half the cast in a promo. So now we know, for certain, at least who half of the players are.
Here’s the leak image which confirmed it…
Pictured in the photo is David Alexander, Cody Calafiore, Da’Vonne Rogers, Kaysar Ridha, Daniele Donato, Bayleigh Dayton, Kevin Campbell, and Janelle Pierzina. Expect to see them all in the house.
This is only the second time in the Big Brother history that CBS has done an all-star season. And while the network remains mum about rest of the cast, rumors abound with who will be back in the house.
Leading the list of people most likely to be involved is Season 20 runner-up Tyler Crispen, who was also America’s Favorite Houseguest. It is also expected that Tyler’s rival Bayleigh Dayton, who also was on Season 20, will be back.
Others speculated to join Crispen and Dayton in Big Brother 22 are actual winners of the show: Season 12 winner Hayden Moss, Season 14 winner Ian Terry, Season 18 winner Nicole Franzel, and season 19 victor Josh Martinez.
Of course, there are others rumored to be joining in the strategic gaming. First, there is the three-time Big Brother player Janelle Pierzina, possibly Paulie Calafiore from Season 18, and the Season 8 runner-up Daniele Donato.
Mind you, all of these are rumored. Likely, but still not confirmed. Even with the above-mentioned names, there are still plenty of spots left in the house. How many former champions would decide to come back is an unknown.
We sit on the edge of our seat waiting for the official Big Brother 22 announcement which CBS promises will include “winners, finalists, legends, memorable personalities, and some of the best to never win the game.”
THE VIRUS
But… what about COVID? How is this even possible? Big Brother 22 has a plan.
Like many sports leagues (NBA, MLB, NFL, MSL) Big Brother 22 will also do extensive COVID testing of their all-stars before allowing them in the house. The plan put in place by CBS has the contestants in quarantine two weeks before the kick-off of the live show. During this time, they will be subjected to COVID tests to ensure nothing follows them into the house.
As long as contestants come back negative, in they go. For those who may test positive, Big Brother does have a list of alternates who are on stand-by to take a spot. Of course, crew members will also be tested and isolated in individual pods to help maintain safety and social distancing.
BIG BROTHER 22: ALL STARS PREMIERE DATE
So, let’s get to it. The date Big Brother fans have all been waiting for: Big Brother All-Stars will officially kick-off with a two-hour premiere on Wednesday, August 5th. What’s more the initial episode will be a live move-in, something Big Brother has done but once before.
Julie Chen Moonves will be back in her normal role, ready to break hearts and eliminate contestants until a $500,000 all-star winner is crowned. After the season 22 premiere on Wednesday the 5th, Big Brother will then follow a normal pattern of Sunday nights, Wednesday nights, and Thursday nights.
