The Best Show On Television Just Got A Second Season
The Bear has been approved for a second season, which will air on Hulu in early summer.
The current landscape of shows being canceled with no warning has taught us that nothing is safe. Even though Wednesday was a smash hit on Netflix, it still took some time for that series to be renewed. However, the best series on TV just got the best announcement about its sequel season: The Bear. FX has announced that The Bear Season 2 will be debuting this summer, and will contain 10 episodes.
What makes this announcement that much better is that The Bear Season 2 will have two more episodes than the previous season, which is sure to delight fans. It also makes sense that FX wanted to wait a bit on this announcement, as the series was nominated plenty at the Golden Globes. The lead star, Jeremy Allen White, also won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Series.
The Bear follows Carmy (White), who heads to Chicago to run his family’s Italian sandwich shop after his brother has committed suicide. Carmy is a classically trained chef and is naturally in a much different world being at a meager sandwich shop, especially while dealing with the rambunctious personalities of his new kitchen staff. The acting prowess of White and his rapport with fellow co-star Ayo Edebiri has led to plenty of praise among critics and audiences.
The Bear Season 2 will follow the opening of a new restaurant, and despite fans wanting to see Sydney and Carmy become more than friends, the show will not focus on their romantic relationship. FX has stated that the series will premiere on Hulu in “early summer” meaning we are likely to have a release date of May or June. Technically, June is when summer starts, but we wouldn’t mind FX being a little loose with the rules.
The Bear was also nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy at this year’s Golden Globes, but it would lose to Abbott Elementary. The FX series has still been a massive hit, as it currently holds a huge 100% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an equally impressive 91% audience approval rating. It is not shocking that FX pulled the trigger on the second season immediately.
As previously mentioned, the current state of most networks is in flux, so it makes sense that many people were worried about the cancelation of the show. The Bear could turn into one of the most successful shows for FX, placing it above hit shows like Sons of Anarchy, Archer, What We Do in the Shadows and Fargo. Considering its success at the Golden Globes, we would imagine the series is going to get plenty of attention at the Emmys as well.
The Bear Season 2 will be debuting on Hulu in early summer, as previously stated, we think that could be in May or June. The hit series will follow Carmy as he navigates opening his brand-new restaurant. We couldn’t be more excited to see what is going to happen in the new season and be able to watch two extra episodes.
