The Best NCIS Agents

If there is one thing you can’t deny that TV audiences love, it’s a crime series. Case in point, NCIS, which has been rolling for 20 seasons. Its popularity has spawned spin-offs such as NCIS’s LA, New Orleans, Hawai’i, and Sydney. With its long-running status and the popular spin-offs, the cast of main characters is quite large. But which one of these characters is tops? Let’s see if we can help decide.

10. Clayton Reeves

Duane Henry’s Clayton Reeves was a latecomer to the NCIS party and unfortunately only stayed a short time. But during his three-year stay, he left a lasting impression. Reeves is a British MI6 officer whose specialized skills come in handy to the team, especially when they get involved with international cases.

9. Ziva David

Ziva David, played by Cote de Pablo, comes to the NCIS team as a former Israeli Mossad agent. She brings a wonderful blend of strength, intelligence, and compassion along with a unique perspective from working internationally which is key to her being one of the best NCIS agents.

8. Timothy McGee

When Timothy McGee first worked with the NCIS team, he was pretty much tech support. But since that time, McGee (played by Sean Murray) distinguished himself with his intelligence in becoming a tech-savvy investigator. Once he officially joined the team, his loyalty and growth have been apparent throughout the series.

7. Ellie Bishop

As another latecomer to the game, Emily Wickersham joined NCIS as Ellie Bishop in season 13 and immediately made her mark. She is the team’s intelligence analyst, consistently showing her vast knowledge of data analysis and profiling. Her background as an NSA analyst has made her an invaluable team member.

6. Caitlin Todd

Sasha Alexander did not spend a lot of time on NCIS as Caitlin Todd, but her presence was definitely felt. Todd was a former Secret Service agent assigned as part of Air Force One’s Presidential Protective Detail. She joined the team as an integral part with her expertise in protection, but unfortunately only lasted a few seasons before being assassinated by a Mossad double agent.

5. Nicholas Torres

Nicholas Torres is not everyone’s cup of tea, but that is how Wilmer Valderrama chose to play him. Torres is on the NCIS Major Case Response Team and has many times rubbed his teammates and fans of the series the wrong way. Things appeared to have changed a bit (for the better) for Torres after the death of Clayton Reeves, forcing Torres to mature as a character.

4. Leon Vance

It wasn’t until season 5 that fans were introduced to Rocky Carroll’s Leon Vance, the new director of NCIS. As the man in charge, it took a while for fans to warm up to his style, but eventually, Vance became one of the favorites. Vance has provided wise guidance and leadership for the team.

3. Anthony DiNozzo

There is no doubt that Anthony DiNozzo is an intelligent man. Played by Michael Weatherly, it is his emotions that many times hinder his progress. DiNozzo is the Senior Field Agent on the NCIS Major Case Response Team which provides charm and wit to go along with his keen sense of observation.

2. Abby Sciuto

Officially, we can’t quite call Pauley Perrette’s Abby Sciuto an NCIS agent. True, she is the forensic specialist on the team, providing her valuable scientific expertise when called upon. That expertise was vast as well. There wasn’t a code Abby couldn’t crack, a computer system she couldn’t hack, or a new chemical compound she couldn’t figure out. To top it off, her quirkiness was very attractive.

1. Leroy Jethro Gibbs

Mark Harmon’s Lerot Jethro Gibbs is the unquestioned leader of the NCIS team. His investigative skills are exceptional and his dedication to the team and the job make him the best agent NCIS has seen. Gibbs’ military training has been beneficial and though he might not be the most book-smart, his perception and street smarts by far make up for it.
