Fans who have been looking forward to seeing Ben Affleck reprise his role as Batman in the upcoming and much anticipated Flash movie can now view what look to be both set photos and video footage of Ben Affleck’s Batman on the Bat-cycle.
Twitter user, David Pratt, tweeted a video early this morning that depicted Batman, mostly likely Ben Affleck’s stunt double, riding the bat-cycle down the streets of “Gotham”.
You can take a closer look at the bat-cycle in all its glory below.
AjepArts tweeted photos of Ben Affleck’s Batman similar to what we were able to see in the video which was followed by a reply from another user, Vingança who shared an additional set photo that shows a camera crew surrounding a stationary Batman standing in the back of his bat-cycle.
The photos of Ben Affleck’s Batman on the set of The Flash come after initial set photos surfaced of Ezra Miller, who is set to play one version of Barry Allen, in the upcoming film. The fact that photos and footage have been being seen more frequently out in the wild suggests that production is moving forward as anticipated.
While it’s exciting to see that production is moving ahead as planned, we still do not know much about the details of The Flash’s plot. What has been confirmed, however, is that the film is set to be based on the Flashpoint story that originated in the comics and that there will be at least one other batman from an alternate timeline because Micheal Keaton is also slated to reprise his version of Bruce Wayne, as well.
Much to fan dismay, however, there have been rumors that suggest this might very well be the last time that fans will get to see Ben Affleck as Batman. According to DKoding, some sources have suggested that “…Affleck would not appear in a Batsuit again as he was leaving the DCEU due to certain personal circumstances.” Giant Freakin’ Robot reported just last week that it is indeed likely that Ben Affleck’s character will die in The Flash, which would all but solidify his exit from the franchise and ultimately his retirement from wearing the bat-suit. This is sure to come as a sad blow to fans who endearingly refer to Ben Affleck’s version of Batman as “Batfleck”.
Fans first saw Ben Affleck take on the identity of Bruce Wayne and don the coveted bat-suit back in 2016 in DC’s Batman Vs. Superman, followed by a performance in 2017’s Justice League which was met with a multitude of criticisms from critics and fans alike. Justice League was then re-released this year as Zack Snyder’s director’s cut on the streaming platform HBO Max, in what has been described by publication’s like Cinema Blend, as the initial intended version of the film, a version that Zack Snyder had to walk away from while first filming because of the unexpected suicide of his daughter, Autumn. Now that Snyder is back in the driver’s seat it is unclear as to just how long he will stay immersed in the DC Extended Universe, but for now, fans can still look forward to the release of The Flash in 2022.
