Farscape is a science fiction television series that ran for four seasons from 1999 through 2003. It was a joint American-Australian venture with nearly the entire cast either Australian or a New Zealander. Of the main cast, only Ben Browder was from America.

The series followed Browder’s character, John Crichton, an astronaut whose experimental space flight accidentally sends him through a wormhole, where he meets up with a group called the Peacekeepers.

One thing that Farscape was known for was its beautiful actresses. They were a highlight throughout the series’ four seasons. Let’s take a look at who some of these women and the characters they played.

5. Virginia Hey

Virginia Hey is an Australian actress who began her career as a model. In Farscape, this beautiful actress played Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan, a bald, blue-skinned alien. Zhaan has the ability to share unity with other beings, meaning they can share their thoughts, feelings, and sensations.

With that, she can also share their pain. Hey was a regular for the series’ first three seasons then chose to leave the show because she no longer wanted to shave her head and eyebrows. She also left the show for health reasons, as the extensive prosthetic makeup she was required to wear caused her some serious health issues.

4. Raelee Hill

Raelee Hill joined the Farscape cast in the series’ fourth and final season. The Australian actress played Sikozu, a dangerous and hard-edged alien who at first aligns herself with Peacekeepers commander Scorpius, but then it is revealed she is in cahoots with the Peacekeepers’ enemy, the Scarrans. Hill has spent most of her time on Australian TV or movies, though she did get a small part in Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns.

3. Rebecca Riggs

Another Australian actress, Rebecca Riggs played Commandant Mele-on Grayza on Farscape, the ambitious new Peacekeeper who joined the show in season 3. What makes her character extremely interesting is that she has a gland that has been implanted in her chest that produces a substance that when she uses it can bend men to her will. Most of her career has centered around Australian television or films.

2. Gigi Edgley

Gigi Edgely is one of the better-known actresses on Farscape. She played Chiana, an alien who is at once street-smart and adventurous but who will do anything for those she loves. When it comes to defending herself, Chiana is a skilled fighter, acrobatic, and very agile. She has a tendency to crouch on objects rather than stand above them. The beautiful Edgley’s extensive career has centered around Australian television and feature films.

1. Claudia Black

On Farscape, the beautiful Claudia Black played Aeryn Sun, a Sebacean alien who becomes John Crichton’s romantic interest. Sun is very militaristic in her actions. She is a skilled fighter, very good at hand-to-hand combat and her personality at first comes off as cool.

Over time, and being around Crichton, Sun is able to soften a bit. Not only has Black played in Farscape, but she was also part of the series Stargate SG-1 and in the Vin Diesel feature, Pitch Black. Black is also well-known for lending her voice to popular video games such as Uncharted, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and the Gears of War series.
