Beast Games Contestants Describe Horrific Conditions Under MrBeast

Mr. Beast

You most likely know Jimmy Donaldson as MrBeast, someone who has become inarguably the biggest YouTuber of all. One of the ways he became so popular is with crazy videos like the one where he had contestants compete in a non-lethal version of the Squid Game portrayed in the Netflix show of the same name. Now, he has created the Beast Games, a real-life, Amazon-backed Squid Game competition where players compete for $5 million dollars, but contestants are now complaining that MrBeast forced them into downright horrific conditions that went far beyond anything they had previously agreed to.

Breaking Down The Beast Games

Mr. Beast

On paper, the Beast Games should be a real win/win for both MrBeast and Amazon: he gets to expand his empire and create more killer content for his YouTube channel, and Amazon gets some insanely popular new content that just happens to rip off one of rival Netflix’s most popular shows. In other words, this is the kind of project designed to generate buzz and major clout for all parties involved. However, some of the stories shared by Beast Games competitors are threatening to further harm the reputation of MrBeast (who has recently faced unrelated accusations from a former employer) and corporate giant Amazon.

Things Didn’t Go As Planned

Mr. Beast

The Beast Games began with 2,000 would-be contestants, a number that would eventually be whittled down to 1,000 people who would appear on the show proper. Like the Squid Game show that it is modeled after, this MrBeast competition had contestants facing rough conditions: they were stuck living in Nevada’s Allegiant Stadium and had to surrender belongings like phones, underwear, and medication to those organizing the competition. Everyone with important medication was assured they would have access to it as needed, but that is just one way that the Beast Games didn’t go as planned.

Actually Sounds Worse Than What Happens In Squid Game

According to anonymous Beast Games contestants who spoke with the New York Times, one diabetic competitor didn’t receive their insulin until hours after it needed to be taken, and another person was initially denied the food that they needed to take their own medication. This may have contributed to why some of the competitors allegedly vomited and passed out, and there are stories about some contestants having seizures due to withheld medicine.

One particularly sinister allegation is that some menstruating female contestants were denied quick access to their spare underwear while a MrBeast crew member laughed at their plight.

Is Competing Worth The Money?

Regarding the food and water shortages at the Beast Games, a MrBeast spokesperson has insisted that all contestants were offered three meals a day, but anonymous contestants have alleged that they were generally fed 400-calorie meals only twice a day. One contestant claims he went 20 hours without eating, and others have reported having to fight over food. In addition to general shortages of food and water, contestants have claimed that they were only allowed 3-4 hours of sleep per day.

In other words, the Beast Games conditions were already bad enough, and tales about the actual competition weren’t much better. In a competition involving teams pulling 400 ropes attached to 10,000-pound weights, there are stories of contestants violently shoving each other while the MrBeast crew failed to take control of the situation. One person claims to have been injured in this competition and offered $1,000 as a consolation prize before having to give the money back after the crew stopped filming.

A Real-Life Dystopian Nightmare

The whole thing (including nasty tales of broken bones) paints a very ugly picture of the Beast Games and the man running them. Many have openly wondered about the ethics of creating a real-life competition based on a Netflix reality show about the dystopian world created by capitalism. But here’s MrBeast presiding over it all, and one contestant vividly described having to cheer for the YouTuber while he stood over a shrine containing $5 million dollars: “We’re all just looking up at the sky, screaming at him like he’s god.”

Will This Harm MrBeast’s Reputation?

Mr. Beast

Considering that these tawdry tales about the Beast Games haven’t really harmed his reputation, MrBeast may as well be God. After all, he has a legion of followers who hang on everything he has to say, and it seems like absolutely nothing can keep him from being worshiped all around the world. Maybe he can use his newly divine status to talk to Jesus himself…after all, anyone who can turn water into wine might just be able to turn those Feastables into something that tastes like actual food.
