See Batman And Friends In Star Trek Starfleet Designs
The last time we saw Batman crossing over with a major franchise, it was in The Flash, which has proven to be the biggest box office disaster in Warner Bros. history. Still, we can hardly blame the Caped Crusader for that: Batman (Batmen, really) was the best part of that film, and we wouldn’t mind seeing more crazy crossovers with other universes. Apparently, Twitter user Ted & Ro agrees, as they gifted the internet with the amazing gift of this Batman and Star Trek crossover that we never knew we needed.
According to the artist, Batman crossing over with Star Trek like this is part of a “rejected DC short,” which means we’re not likely to see this in animated form anytime soon. However, we agree with the artist that this is too cool of an idea to not bring to life in some kind of way. And if we can’t have any cartoon shorts on the matter, we’re happy to have this killer art showing us what it might have looked like.
Batman himself is stylized as the Captain of the ship while Batwoman is the First Officer.
If you look closely, it’s not just Batman but much of his extended “Bat Family” that has managed to beam over into the world of Star Trek. Naturally, Batman himself is stylized as the Captain of the ship while Batwoman is the First Officer.
There are also some fun surprises in here, including Harley Quinn inexplicably making the cut for the Batman bridge crew and Damian Wayne wearing the awful, Wesley Crusher-inspired outfit (you can tell how happy he is to be wearing it).
Speaking of uniforms, it looks like Batman and his crew have a look that is slightly different from any uniforms we have seen on previous Star Trek shows. For example, the design is clearly inspired by the uniforms on Star Trek: The Next Generation, with the dark upper uniform perfectly blending in with the masks of Batman and Batwoman.

But these appear to be one-piece jumpsuits (more like the first two seasons of TNG than later seasons), and everyone’s boots are stylized to their department colors (which goes well with the sleeves…much more stylish than Starfleet issue).
The Star Trek/X-Men Crossover
Incidentally, even though DC rejected the Batman crossover, this isn’t the first time someone had the idea for Star Trek to cross over with a comic book franchise. In both comic and book form, Captain Picard and the crew had a crossover with the X-Men. And in more recent comics, Star Trek as a franchise has crossed over with Transformers, Doctor Who, Green Lantern, and more.
Ultimately, posting this concept art for Batman crossing over with Star Trek accomplished its purpose: as fans, it got us both excited for what could have been and sad for what never will become a reality.
Already, fans on Twitter and beyond are asking DC to reverse this decision and authorize a crossover between the Caped Crusader and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. And if nothing else, we’d like to see the awkward conversation between Batman and Picard when the Dark Knight realizes his back was broken by the same guy who played Captain Picard’s cloned foe in Star Trek: Nemesis.
