Barry Keoghan

It looks like Barry Keoghan got into a bit of trouble in his hometown of Dublin. Fortunately, the incident doesn’t seem like it was too serious. As reported by Metro, the actor was taken into custody for public intoxication. However, he was released with a fixed charge notice, meaning that the actor was released without the need for legal proceedings. With a minor incident like this, it’s unlikely that the young actor’s promising career will be affected.

According to the reports, the Dublin police responded to a noise complaint about a man who was intoxicated on a balcony. Witnesses allege that Barry Keoghan wasn’t threatening in his intoxicated state. It seems like Keoghan was just having a bit more fun than was acceptable in a quiet neighborhood.

The fact that the issue is resolved is good news for Barry Keoghan, as well as Marvel and DC fans. The actor has the opportunity to become a prevalent presence in both of these cinematic comic-book universes. Keoghan played an Eternal in the recent Marvel film Eternals and he also played a creepy and mangled version of the Joker in The Batman. Though we only saw a very brief glimpse of the character at the end of the movie, we were treated to an extended deleted scene recently that gave us a more in-depth look at his performance as the Clown Prince of Crime. Presumably, Matt Reeves will look to use this character in future sequels to the franchise. It seems like he’ll make a great opponent for Robert Pattinson’s take on Batman.

Barry Keoghan has another very interesting project that is set to hit theaters before the end of the year titled The Banshees of Inisherin. The movie tells the story of two lifelong friends on a remote Irish island finding their friendship ending abruptly after one of them decides they no longer want to be friends. The movie is especially intriguing because it will be reuniting director/writer Martin McDonagh with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. The last collaboration between these three led to the wonderful and darkly-comedic In Bruges. Kerry Condon also co-stars.

In addition to nabbing roles in exciting new properties alongside storied comic-book franchises, fans would really like to see Barry Keoghan join a classic sci-fi franchise as well. Many fans are throwing in their support for Keoghan to play the antagonistic Feyd-Rautha in the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Keoghan has even addressed the rumor himself in an interview, saying he’d love to work with Timothée Chalamet and Denis Villeneuve. If Keoghan is indeed the actor taking on this role, he’ll have another massive role to add to his growing list of acting achievements.

Though there are no statements from either Marvel or DC about the Dublin arrest, it doesn’t seem like much will come of it or that they’ll feel the need to release a statement. With no legal repercussions on the table and no one hurt, it seems like Barry Keoghan might just have to keep the noise down from now on. Besides, DC has some bigger actor issues to worry about right now.
