Diversity has been high up on the list for Marvel for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with Sam Wilson becoming the new Cap. The upcoming projects like Shang Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Ms. Marvel, Armor Wars, etc all set to continue this positive development. And according to insider Daniel Richtman, with Captain America 4, an Asian Captain America will be joining the list.
Just a few days ago, Richtman had shared that there will be multiple Captain Americas in the fourth film about the star-spangled superhero. Of course, we will have Sam as the new Captain America, John Walker as the US Agent, Eli Bradley, and a yet-unknown actress in the role of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s female Cap. And now he has reported that the film will also be introducing an Asian Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but beyond this, he has not shed much light on the news or afforded it any further credibility.
When it comes to Captain America 4 and its titular character(s), there has been no dearth in the number of rumors and new information cropping up. Recently, We Got This Covered reported that they have learned from their sources that the X-Men, Storm, might be starring along with Anthony Mackie in the film. The publication even went as far as theorizing that her introduction would somehow be linked with Wakanda as well. Till now, all Marvel has done is tease the possibility of X-Men’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in its Phase 4 without any concrete development.
Then there have been rumors about Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes also being a co-lead in Captain America 4, which is not all that surprising. The character has been a part of many Marvel Cinematic Universe films so far and was the co-lead in the Disney+ series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which not only established Sam as the new Cap but also ended with him and Bucky as good friends. It’s rather obvious that he will be a part of the upcoming film, as Sam’s (best?) friend helping him getting used to his new role.
A few days ago, our trusted and proven insider source shared that before Anthony Mackie gets to star as Captain America in his own film, he will first show up in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. As we can’t say with certainty how significant Sam’s role will be in the film, it remains to be seen whether he will appear in an extended supporting role just like Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa did in Captain America: Civil War or just a cameo, perhaps in the post-credits teaser that will set the stage for Captain America 4.
The news about Marvel Studios planning and currently ongoing work on Captain America 4 was recently announced in an exclusive report by Hollywood Reporter. Given the success of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the series showrunner and head writer, Malcolm Spellman has been brought on board for the next Captain America film. The only officially announced cast member till now is Anthony Mackie as Captain America.
