Ashton Kutcher Reveals The Celebrities That Hated His Prank Show
Ashton Kutcher revealed that comedians were the ones who hated being on Punk'd.
Back before Ashton Kutcher became a massive movie star, and right after he was one of the leading actors in That ’70s Show, the actor had himself a prank show. That prank show was called Punk’d, and it existed on MTV. Although the show was a hit amongst fans, Kutcher revealed to the Chicks in the Office podcast the celebrities that hated the show the most: “You know who had the least sense of humor about it was comedians, which is really weird, because you would think comedians would be down…they like to be in on the joke, they don’t like to be the joke.”
Apparently, the people who hated jokes the most were comedians, which comes as a bit of a surprise. However, telling jokes on stage to an audience is nowhere near as bad as having someone pull a practical joke, so we understand. The only comedian that was a good sport about being on Punk’d was Tracy Morgan, according to Ashton Kutcher.
Ashton Kutcher thought it would be a good idea to convince that Tracy Morgan was getting his car towed, which caused the comedian to rush out of the restaurant he was in to tell the tow truck driver to release his car. After a few minutes of arguing, Kutcher revealed himself to thunderous laughs from Morgan. Despite Morgan’s reaction, he is only one of a few rare comedians that enjoyed being Punk’d (Bernie Mac and George Lopez also had a good laugh).
Ashton Kutcher also revealed that there would be no way that Punk’d would be able to survive in today’s climate, as most celebrities are on higher alert. Paparazzi and fans have smartphones now, making it far easier to snap videos and photos of their favorite celebrities, so it wouldn’t be as easy to pull a practical joke on people as it once was. For what the show was worth, it did have some great pranks in it.
Ashton Kutcher has also evolved a lot past his practical joke past, as the man is a movie star and successful entrepreneur. In fact, Kutcher has been on Shark Tank a few times, investing in the real-life creations of those lucky enough to be invited on the show. Kutcher also doesn’t forget his roots though, as he recently reprised his role as Michael Kelso in the That ’90s Show sequel series.
While Ashton Kutcher may not have wanted to go willingly, he was convinced by his wife, Mial Kunis. Kunis portrays Jackie Burkhart in That ’70s Show and reprised her role in That ’90s Show. Their characters were always the on-again-off-again relationship in the original sitcom, so it is a bit of fate that they ended up married to one another in real life.
Prank shows seemed to have moved platforms, as there are a ton still popping up on YouTube and TikTok, but there will never be another show like Punk’d. Ashton Kutcher made it his business to mess with some of the biggest celebrities, and most loved the idea of getting messed with. However, it appears comedians were not among those so willing to laugh at their own misery, as they are the ones usually behind the jokes.
