It had been announced that the creative team behind Cobra Kai was going to be making an hour-long action-comedy on Netflix. The team is comprised of Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald. Though the series had been announced there had not been any accompanying casting announcements until today. It has been officially revealed that Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig will be the stars of the new series Obliterated. Nick Zano comes from the DC Arrowverse, as he famously portrayed Steel on Legends of Tomorrow. Hennig, on the other hand, is most known for her time as Malia Tate on Teen Wolf.

Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig are two of the members of a Special Forces team that have been cast so far, with many likely on the way. Zano will be portraying Chad McKnight who is the leader of a SEAL team that holds undying respect for the man. But a wild night in Vegas prove McKnight wants to keep the party going and save the world. Hennig plays Ava Winters who is the CIA operative who must watch out and answer for the antics of the SEAL team that is led by McKnight. After their bender in Vegas, she has a ton of answering to do.

Obliterated follows a Special Forces team that bands together to diffuse a bomb, essentially saving the Las Vegas area. However, after a massive night of celebrating and partying in Vegas, the team wakes up to find that the bomb they had diffused was a fake. Now the team must immediately return to work while hungover and likely still inebriated, to suppress the threat that is still very much alive. With how the team behind Cobra Kai wrote that drama/comedy series, we think this new action-comedy is going to be just as great. Adding Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig is a good start to what could be another great cast.

Nick Zano coming over from the Arrowverse might be even better considering the sort of on-brand cheesy humor that has existed in plenty of those shows. Cobra Kai has contained much of that same cheesy humor, so matching up the two is fantastic. Legends of Tomorrow has just ended back in March as well, and Zano spent six seasons on the DC series. Shelley Hennig just spent time on the series, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. She is also currently filming and reprising her role as Malia Tate in the Teen Wolf revival film, which is set to air on Paramount+.

Obliterated is likely a far way off from being released, but at least we know that Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig are two of the stars attached to the new comedy series. Netflix may be canceling shows by a huge margin right now, but they are also certainly beefing up their programming too. With this new cast announcement, the show might be getting underway for filming soon. We can expect to see the new series sometime in late 2023.
