Arnold Schwarzenegger And Sylvester Stallone Become Jay And Silent Bob In Clerks 2 Video
As deepfake and artificial intelligence technologies continue to advance at an alarming rate, it’s terrifying to think about what could happen if such powerful tools end up in the wrong hands. In the case of content creator Brian Monarch, however, it’s evident that he’s doing all the right things with his latest deepfake video on YouTube, which is a faithful recreation of an exchange between Jay and Silent Bob in Clerks 2. The one-and-a-half-minute-long video is not only a shot-for-shot remake of the scene but shows us what it would look like if Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone took on the role of Jay and Silent Bob.
Though Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone are not without comedy chops, we’ve never seen them delivering stoner humor at this capacity, and the entire exchange is absolutely hilarious. Though The Demolition Man is true to his Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) deepfake, not uttering a single word, we see the man behind the Terminator deliver line after line of profanity-laden toilet humor as if he were Jason Mewes himself.
The scene in question features a contemplative Arnold Schwarzenegger saying, “You know, sometimes I wish I’d done a little more with my life instead of hangin’ out in front of places, selling weed and sh*t.”
And Sylvester Stallone, donning a backward cap, and a cigarette hanging loosely out of his mouth, gives off a nonchalant affirmative nod. If we didn’t know this re-imagining of Clerks 2 was a deepfake, we’d say that the two action stars were born for this part!
The most hilarious part of this deepfake is that Arnold Schwarzenegger is tall and lanky, just like Jason Mewe’s Jay character. The Buddy Christ tank top (which is Dogma reference) is just the icing on the cake and is complimented by long golden locks of hair that really tie the look together. In the case of Sylvester Stallone, however, we almost had to do a double-take, because believe it or not, his face barely seems altered at all.
We’re not saying that Sylvester Stallone and Kevin Smith are celebrity doppelgangers, but their facial structures are quite similar. Though Arnold Schwarzenegger (voiced by Joe Gaudet) has plenty of dialogue in this scene, most Kevin Smith fans know that Silent Bob only speaks when he feels the burning need to impart sage-like wisdom. Since those scenes are few and far between, we unfortunately, didn’t get to hear a solid Sylvester Stallone impersonation.
The glaring issue with these deepfake videos that we need to talk about is how we now want to see this happen for real. Could you imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone becoming the next iconic stoner duo?
Maybe it could take place in the not-so-distant future, and Schwarzenegger could be a Terminator that is powered by weed, and Stallone could be dressed as Judge Dredd, but he’s only busting frat parties so he could steal their stash!
Though this is certainly nothing more than a pipe dream, you can’t blame us for wanting it to happen. Thankfully, there are content creators like Brian Monarch, who are willing to put in the effort to throw larger-than-life stars into roles that we’d probably never see in real life.
We may never see Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone running their mouths outside of a Quickstop in a feature film, but thanks to deepfake technology we’re able to get a good laugh imagining what could have been!
