Arnold Schwarzenegger Takes One For The Team, See Him Back In Action For First Time In Years
See Arnold Schwarzenegger back in action for his upcoming Netflix series, FUBAR.
Keeping good on his promise, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in a teaser for his leading series debut in Netflix’s FUBAR. Short and sweet, the less-than-30-second trailer, which you can see below, features the legendary Terminator actor behind the driver’s seat of a sporty car as well as speeding down streets on a motorcycle. The clip also teases a buddy-comedy relationship between his character and Fortune Feimster’s Ruth.
Dropping his iconic line during the first few seconds of the clip, Arnold Schwarzenegger kicks off our first look at FUBAR by lighting up a cigar. The action delivers right away with plenty of fire and guns as audiences are teased with what’s to come in the Nick Santora (Scorpion, The Sopranos) created spy series. We also spot Schwarzenegger and Feimster on a dock surrounded by beautiful yachts, with the body-builder and actor puffing on another cigar while Feimster’s character jokingly chastises him for “being sentimental.”
While the teaser only offered us a brief look at Arnold Schwarzenegger and Fortune Feimster, those behind the production of FUBAR have been pretty open when it comes to plot details. A spy-comedy centered around family secrets, FUBAR stars Schwarzenegger as Luke, a top intelligence agent who has kept his work identity hidden from his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) for her entire life. What Luke doesn’t know is that Emma is also a celebrated CIA operative, and when the duo gets paired up on a mission together, they find that there’s more than just one big skeleton in their closet.
Along with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Monica Barbaro, and Fortune Feimster, FUBAR also stars Jay Baruchel (Undeclared), Andy Buckley (The Office), Aparna Brielle (A.P. Bio), Barbara Eve Harris (Prison Break), Travis Van Winkle (You), Gabriel Luna (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Fabiana Udenio (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery), and Milan Carter. The eight-episode project will mark a major milestone for the Twins actor, serving as his first leading role in a small-screen production.
Not only does the series boast some major celebrity power with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Top Gun: Maverick’s Monica Barbaro, but FUBAR is also promising to bring the heat with the names backing it. Creator Nick Santora has previously worked as a writer on major titles including The Sopranos, Law & Order, The Fugitive, and, most recently, the hit Prime Video series Reacher as well as Netflix’s recently released family-film Dog Gone.
As for good ol’ Arnie, it’s been a minute since fans have seen him grace their screens with his last big appearance being in 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. But this year will see Arnold Schwarzenegger making a comeback as not only will he be starring in FUBAR, but he’ll also appear in the long-awaited sequel Kung Fury 2. Joining the likes of Michael Fassbender, Alexandra Shipp, Jorma Taccone, and Ralf Moeller in the David Sandberg co-written, helmed, and starring feature, Schwarzenegger will add his name to the martial arts comedy.
With today’s first Arnold Schwarzenegger-centered teaser giving audiences an idea of what’s to come when FUBAR explodes onto the streamer later this year, it’s only a matter of time before full-length trailers make their debut. We can expect the action to kick off on Netflix on May 25, 2023.
