See Arnold Schwarzenegger Reunited With His Greatest Co-Star, Sequel Teased
These days, Arnold Schwarzenegger may be best known for his side hustle as a public servant, including filling in potholes and serving as the 38th governor of California. Now that the Terminator actor has returned to his illustrious career in film and television, many fans have begun to wonder if and when the leading man will reprise some of his most beloved roles.
Arnold Schwarzenegger And Danny DeVito
In a recent Instagram post with his Twins co-star Danny DeVito, Schwarzenegger teased a possible on-screen reunion, sparking rumors of a legacy Twins sequel.
Twins first premiered in 1988, and played on the humorous premise of 6’2″ muscle-bound giant Arnold Schwarzenegger discovering he is a biological twin with 4’10” stout and stumpy Danny DeVito.
Very Different Sizes
The latest Instagram post displays the hilarious size discrepancy between the pair, with many commenters joining in on the joke by claiming that they can’t tell the two visually distinct actors apart.
Schwarzenegger’s caption on the post explains that the photo was taken after seeing DeVito performing the play I Need That on Broadway, and lauding the excellent performance.
A Twins Sequel?
The caption concludes with a rousing call to reunite on the big screen in some capacity, leading many fans to believe that the rumored Twins sequel is back on.
The sequel, titled Triplets, had already entered into pre-production sometime between 2022 and early 2023, but was ultimately shut down and canceled.
Both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito had expressed interest in reprising their roles in the film, with Tracy Morgan and Eddie Murphy both in consideration for the position as the third long-lost brother.
Ivan Reitman’s Passing And Jason Reitman
Unfortunately, Twins director Ivan Reitman passed away in 2022, leaving his son Jason in charge of his affairs.
According to comments made by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Reitman never had faith in the legacy sequel, and refused to allow the production team to purchase the rights to the film and characters.
Since then, news regarding the film has been scarce, as fans assumed the project to be dead in the water.
Fans Want Them Back
Whether Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito reunite in Triplets or another project, fans would surely love to see them interact with one another on the big screen again.
Of course, Schwarzenegger specifically refers to DeVito as his brother in his latest Instagram caption, which could serve as a subtle tease that the production is back in action.
Even if it isn’t meant to tease the film, the action star surely knew that his fans would interpret the post in that way, given the sheer amount of fanfare garnered by the film in recent years.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Influence
Arnold Schwarzenegger touts a highly impressive Instagram following of just under 26 million users, resulting in nearly half a million likes on his post in just a few short days.
The strongman champion often uses the social media platform to tease new and upcoming projects such as his recent autobiography Be Useful: Seven Tools For Life which released back in October.
Fans should be certain to keep an eye on Schwarzenegger’s social media accounts in the coming months, as news of any upcoming film projects will surely be posted.
