Arnold Schwarzenegger And Danny DeVito Are Finally Teaming Up Again, Here’s All We Know
Those growing up in the late ’80s and ’90s would be hard-pressed to find a more iconic comedic duo than Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who starred in two legendary movies of the era, 1988’s Twins and 1994’s Junior. The Tim Burton-era Batman villains are now looking to collaborate again on a mystery movie project, and Danny DeVito has just shared an exciting update on his movie reunion with the Austrian Oak.
The Script Is Being Written
Speaking in an interview regarding his latest work, Chris Pine’s directorial debut Poolman, Danny DeVito shared that he and Arnold Schwarzenegger are working together once again—much to the fandom’s content. The Hollywood veteran shared that he and Schwarzenegger have been discussing a new project, whose script is currently being written, and despite the lack of details, DeVito stated that the movie is most likely to happen at Warner Bros. It’s worth noting that both Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger have teased the new project since 2023.
As for the project in question, the sequel to Twins was rumored to be in development for years now, but Schwarzenegger shared that the project wasn’t moving forward, most probably due to director Ivan Reitman’s passing in February 2022. This is disheartening news, considering that Twins established Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger as a great comedic duo. Sure, Junior had some appeal, and while it wasn’t as great as Twins, it was a good comedy.
The Iconic Duo Has A Lot Of History
Danny DeVito stated that teaming up with Arnold Schwarzenegger is a no-brainer for him, as their on-screen chemistry has been proven time and time again, including all shenanigans behind the scenes—one of which includes Danny DeVito getting Arnold Schwarzenegger stoned off the charts on the set of Twins. According to Schwarzenegger, that particular prank was actually DeVito’s revenge for something Arnold previously did.
Will We Ever Get Twins 2?
Of course, this doesn’t mean Twins won’t get a sequel. It just greatly diminished the chances of that happening. We can certainly talk about it further, but without Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s official confirmation, it’s all just speculation at this point.
Teasing Batman
DeVito and Schwarzenegger recently appeared at the 96th Oscars, when they teamed up to present Oppenheimer’s Jennifer Lame an Academy Award for Outstanding Editing. Of course, being the comedic due that they are, they took a few seconds to deal out a few jokes.
One of the jokes was tied to Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s appearances in Tim Burton’s and Joel Schumacher’s Batman movies, in which DeVito played Penguin in Batman Returns, while Schwarzenegger played Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin. Could it be that the upcoming project is yet another Batman movie—though it could theoretically also star Michael Keaton, Batman: Retirement Rumble – The Geriatric Edition doesn’t really sound that appealing.
More News On The Way
All jokes aside, the great news is that Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger are working on another project; the bad news is that nobody really knows what it is apart from the parties involved. We’ll share more details once they become available.
