Arcane Season 2 First Look Gets Fans Hyped For Netflix Return
Gamers and animation lovers alike rejoiced when the first season of Arcane dropped. This League of Legends show went above and beyond its source material and delivered an anime that left fans eager for more.
Unfortunately, those fans have been waiting for another season since 2021. But all that waiting has now paid off. Below, you can view the trailer for Arcane season 2, which will be released on Netflix this November.
What is Arcane actually about, though? If you’ve never watched this killer anime, it focuses on two sisters (Vi and Jinx) who end up fighting against one another. Their tale involves mighty warriors and mystical powers, but it also includes a profound element of class consciousness.
Arcane season 2, will be released on Netflix in November 2024
That’s because the chief conflicts in the series revolve around the battles between the utopian city of Piltover and its oppressed undercity of Zaun.
The first season of Arcane left off with Powder getting corrupted by Silco, a rebel whose technological prowess helps him transform her into anarchic powerhouse Jinx.
Fans have waited a long time for season 2 to see just how crazy this sibling showdown is going to get. We last saw Jinx firing a rocket launcher at the primary government building of Piltover, but sadly, this Arcane season 2 teaser trailer doesn’t show us the immediate fallout of the attack.
In the Arcane Season 2 teaser, we get a better look at Singed, a crazy alchemist
Instead, the trailer mostly teases two very different characters. We get a better look at Singed, a crazy alchemist who only made a very brief appearance in the first season.
We also get a creepy glimpse of Warwick, a wolf-like warrior that fans have already begun speculating is secretly Vander, a Zaun rebel leader turned community figure who might just have a new bag of tricks to unleash on his enemies.
Speaking of fan speculation, this Arcane season 2 trailer doesn’t really answer fans’ lingering questions as to how canonical the events of the show are in relation to the game.
Arcane season 2 will begin to gradually shift these characters and their universe into the more familiar world of the game.
Because this is an explicitly League of Legends show, longtime players scrutinized the first season and discovered several apparent discrepancies from the established lore that made the fandom question whether this was meant to be its own universe or not.
If you’ve been worried about that, here’s some good news: Arcane season 2 will begin to gradually shift these characters and their universe into the more familiar world of the game.
Game developer Riot Games confirmed this on X (formerly known as Twitter), revealing that trying to initially set Arcane in its own continuity created the “kind of fragmentation makes the world feel less believable” and “undercuts meaningful character development.”
However, Riot Games’ head of IP Creative clarified that from Season 2 onward, the shift to a shared continuity would be “gradual” because the writers and developer have no intention to “retcon every champion or story we’ve told.”
Even though the Arcane season 2 trailer doesn’t reveal all that much, we’ll admit that we’re hyped to see what comes next for these characters and their world.
It’s been a long wait since season 1 ended way back in 2021, and we’re pumped to stream more episodes on Netflix finally. The fact that these episodes will now firmly be part of the League of Legends canon is just the cherry on top.
We’re also glad the writers and animators didn’t rush season 2 despite fan demand because we think champion Camille has the right idea: “anything worth doing is worth doing right.”
