Netflix Gives Beloved Hit Series Season 1 Physical Release With Special 4K Version
The critically acclaimed Arcane Netflix series, a collaboration between Riot Games and Fortiche, will finally receive a physical release in 4K Blu-ray for Season 1. The news comes as GKIDS acquired worldwide (excluding China) video and digital sales rights for the series, much to the delight of fans who have been waiting to own a copy of the show.
The Release
The exact release date for Netflix’s Arcane Season 1 will be announced at a later date, but the plans include a range of editions, from digital formats to premium physical editions. The premium edition will feature an exclusive 4K version, available only through the home entertainment release. In a press release, GKIDS founder and CEO Eric Beckman expressed his enthusiasm for the project.
GKIDS
“GKIDS is thrilled to be partnering with our friends at Riot to bring the global hit series Arcane [Season 1]to fans worldwide,” Beckman said. “We are monster fans of the series, and our team is having a blast collaborating with Riot and Fortiche to put together an amazing package for the fans.”
He also explained how the project came to life on the lawn by the lake at Annecy, so GKIDS is happy to announce it.
The impending release of Arcane Season 1follows a series of recent acquisitions by GKIDS, which includes anime series Dan Da Dan, Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron, and the critically acclaimed Mars Express.
Alongside these acquisitions, GKIDS now holds the video rights to Arcane Season 2, which recently received its first poster ahead of its return to Netflix.
The Story
Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, Netflix’s Arcane Season 1 is set in the universe of Riot’s popular video game League of Legends.
The story primarily focuses on the origins of sisters Vi and Jinx, who find themselves in the middle of a developing conflict between the utopian city of Piltover and the oppressed underbelly of Zaun.
Netflix’s Arcane Season 1 combines a spectacular mix of 2D and 3D animation, delivering a visually stunning experience with beautifully animated fight scenes.
The series also features a CW-hip sensibility, a theme song by popular indie band Imagine Dragons, and a soundtrack that includes artists like BONES UK and Pusha T.
