The action-thriller Security is currently in the top 10 of Netflix’s streaming chart, years after its 2017 release. From Marine To Mall Security
Security revolves around Eddie Deacon (Antonio Banderas), a former Marine and war veteran who takes a job as a security guard at a mall to get his life back on track.
On his first night, a young girl named Jamie (Katherine de la Rocha) seeks refuge in the mall. She is a key witness in a high-profile trial involving a powerful crime lord, Charlie (Ben Kingsley).
Everything Hits The Fan
Charlie sends a group of heavily armed mercenaries to eliminate her before she can testify. Eddie and a small team of mall security guards decide to protect Jamie and fend off the mercenaries using their limited resources and tactical skills to survive the night.
Meanwhile, Charlie warns his men that their families will be executed if they fail to capture Jamie.
Mixed Reception
Antonio Banderas’ Eddie and the guards make homemade bombs and traps to defend the mall. Although they manage to kill several mercenaries, the group suffers losses of their own. When Charlie eventually finds Jamie, it results in a final showdown.
Security was filmed in Bulgaria due to the country’s cost-effective production facilities. Despite the experience and gravitas brought to the story by Antonio Banderas and Ben Kingsley, the film received mixed reviews from critics.
While some praised the acting and action sequences, others criticized the movie for its formulaic plot and lack of originality.

Security shares several similarities with the Bruce Willis movie Die Hard. Both films are set in a confined space where the protagonist must fend off attackers.
Although both protagonists are outnumbered by bad guys, they are skilled in combat and must protect innocent people from heavily armed antagonists, using clever tactics and resourcefulness over firepower.

After starring in Security, Antonio Banderas continued his prolific career, taking on various roles in film and television that showcased his versatility as an actor. In the 2017 biopic The Music of Silence, about Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli, the actor played the role of Maestro.
He also portrayed Pablo Picasso in the second season of the National Geographic series Genius in 2018.
