It’s been five years since Anthony Rapp first came forward with disturbing allegations against Kevin Spacey, and now some of the troubling details are coming to light for the first time. While in court yesterday, Rapp spoke about the alleged sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of the American Beauty actor when the rising star was just 14 years old. Recounting how the then-26-year-old Spacey held him down and forced himself on top of him, Rapp stated his claims in front of a New York City jury.

The year was 1986 and both Anthony Rapp and Kevin Spacey were performing on Broadway. Rapp was at Spacey’s Upper East Side apartment along with a slew of other members of the theater community and, as presumably one of – if not the – youngest attendees there, Rapp moved to a different area to escape the adult conversations. It’s then that Rapp alleges that an intoxicated Spacey entered the room after the other guests had left.

From here, Anthony Rapp alleges that Kevin Spacey picked up the younger actor and laid him on the bed before pressing the “full weight” of his body on top of him. Rapp recounts feeling “frozen” and unsure of what his next move should be, but luckily, he was able to maneuver out from under Spacey and escape the situation. Rapp claims that on his way out, the older actor said, “Are you sure you want to leave?”

A visibly shaken Anthony Rapp gave his testimony in the courtroom while Kevin Spacey jotted notes or sat with his hands folded. To round out his statement, the Star Trek: Discovery star said that he was thankful that during his teenage years he had the clarity to know that what was happening was wrong and the ability to get away. But he also acknowledges that he should have never been put in that horrifying position.

Although Anthony Rapp was the first person to come forward with allegations against Kevin Spacey, he certainly wouldn’t be the last, leading a wave of accusations to crash down on top of the House of Cards actor. One of those other alleged victims was Andrew Holtzman, a now 68-year-old-man who says that back in 1981 while working at the New York Shakespeare Festival, he was assaulted by Spacey as well. Holtzman claims that while working in the office, Spacey approached him and picked him up by lifting his groin area and setting him on the desk. Like Rapp, Holtzman was able to thwart his would-be-attacker.

Although at first, it seemed that the allegations brought on by Anthony Rapp and other actors would ruin Kevin Spacey’s career forever, as initially, they led to the actor being fired from House of Cards and no longer cast in projects, the past year has seen a change in that. The actor recently held starring credits in both The Man Who Drew God and Once Upon a Time in Croatia cementing the fact that no matter what, he’ll always find a way back onto the screen. Best known for his role as Mark Cohen in the original Broadway cast of Rent, as well as his part in the ‘90s classic Dazed and Confused, Rapp can currently be seen on Star Trek: Discovery.
