Anthony Mackie Is Teaming Up With A Matrix Star For Exciting New Film
The newly anointed Captain America Anthony Mackie is set to star in a new action-adventure thriller with one of the stars of The Matrix.
Marvel Cinematic Universe star Anthony Mackie is set to star with Indian film icon Priyanka Chopra in a new action-adventure film. The newly-anointed Captain America is going to be in a film called Ending Things by Kevin Sullivan (reportedly written on spec) with Chopra, who starred in the recent The Matrix: Resurrections as the grown version of a child program first appearing in the original Matrix trilogy. The plot of the movie apparently concerns the two being assassins who are in both a personal and business relationship (it can be inferred that Chopra is the hitwoman and Mackie might be her handler). After Chopra decided to end both aspects of their relationship, she gets cold feet and they have to work to repair their relationship while also working to finish their last job (presumably killing someone). It sounds like it has real potential for high-octane hijinks and some hopefully romantic chemistry between Priyanka Chopra and Anthony Mackie.
Priyanka Chopra is one of the biggest film stars in the world, although she has yet to really break through to the American market. She began entering beauty contests in her teens and was crowned Miss World 2000, becoming the fifth woman from India to win the title. She shortly after transitioned to acting, and swiftly became a box office sensation in India. After her breakout role in the 2004 thriller Aitraaz, she began to receive more acclaim for varied roles, eventually winning the Indian National Film Award for Best Actress. In 2015, she began starring in the ABC drama thriller Quantico, which was canceled in 2018. Despite her massive success in India and her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Chopra was more noted in the American media for her marriage to pop musician Nick Jonas. Earlier this year, this caused an embarrassing issue for comedian Rosie O’Donnell, who had posted a story to the social media platform TikTok explaining that she had mistakenly believed Priyanka Chopra was the daughter of self-help guru Deepak Chopra (the two are not related). O’Donnell later apologized.
Anthony Mackie is most familiar to audiences from his role as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First brought into the films as a friend and teammate of Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), the character later transitioned into the role of the new Captain America in the ongoing Phases of the MCU. Disney appears to be gradually making a shift from their original roster of superheroes, with Hailee Steinfeld taking over for Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye in their shared Disney+ streaming show and Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk about to co-star with her more famous cousin Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) in her own show. Aside from his MCU role, Anthony Mackie is also known for his film debut in the Eminem vehicle 8 Mile,The Hate U Give, and Million Dollar Baby. Mackie and Priyanka Chopra’s film together is set to be produced by Amazon Studios, where Chopra currently has a first-look deal. The film does not yet have a release date.
