New Ant-Man 3 Trailer Reveals The Start Of Kang’s Dynasty
The new trailer for Ant-Man 3 shows Scott Lang striking a deal with Kang, who begins his dynasty to take over.
Ant-Man 3 has a brand new trailer that reveals the beginning of Kang’s Dynasty. The two-minute clip sees Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) strike a deal with the Marvel supervillain, hoping to regain the time he lost with his daughter during the five-year blip. During that lost time, Cassie grew into a teenager, and now her dad will do anything to get back those lost years.
After offering to help, Kang asks Scott to bring him something in return. When his agreement with the villain backfires, the Avenger is willing to sacrifice himself to save the multiverse and everyone he loves. The Ant-Man 3 clip also promises some added mayhem, as two identical versions of the superhero come face to face in the Quantum Realm.
But Kang the Conqueror isn’t the only villain in Ant-Man 3. The movie will also introduce fans to MODOK – also known as Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. The popular bad guy is the technologically-enhanced leader of the A.I.M. enterprise, with a brain so big that he turned into a giant head with tiny arms and legs. Bill Murray will also appear in the movie as Lord Krylar, the governor of the lavish Axia Quantum Realm community.
The arrival of Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man 3 has been a long time coming. However, Jonathan Majors previously made his Marvel debut as the supervillain in the Disney+ series, Loki. He played the character with the moniker “He Who Remains.” But the version of Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania won’t be the same. That point was reiterated by the actor during the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022.
Directed by Peyton Reed from a script by Jeff Loveness, Ant-Man 3 follows Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne as they explore the Quantum Realm with her parents and Lang’s daughter. But the group is pushed to its limit when Cassie creates a Quantum Beacon and inadvertently contacts Kang. But the teenager won’t just be a damsel in distress. The film will see Scott’s daughter become the Young Avengers heroine Stature, Collider reports.
Ant-Man 3 also promises to permanently change the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And Scott Lang is at the center of that shift, director Peyton Reed told Access Hollywood in 2022. He also said that Quantumania will have plenty of fun surprises, including a few cameos. “There’s great fun in store for everyone and some surprising faces that may show up,” the filmmaker said.
In the comics, Kang the Conqueror is a 31st-century time-traveling entity that weaponizes time. After making his way to the present, the villain becomes one of the Avengers’ biggest threats as he tries to usher in a new dynasty. The character’s introduction in Ant-Man 3 will expand into several movies and eventually tie into Phase Five and Six to complete Marvel’s Multiverse Saga.
That story will conclude with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025 and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026. Meanwhile, Ant-Man 3 is set to hit theaters worldwide on February 17.
