Anson Mount Returning To Marvel As Black Bolt?
Anson Mount, who portrayed Black Bolt in the ABC series Inhumans, says he would reprise the role in an instant if the opportunity presents itself. However, if he was about to return, the actor told Radio Times he wouldn’t be able to talk about it. “If the answer was yes, I wouldn’t be able to tell you – but the answer is no, so I can,” he said.
Anson Mount of Star Trek fame says he would absolutely return to the role of Black Bolt, but that as of right now, Marvel hasn’t asked him back.
The Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star also revealed that there have been a few discussions about Black Bolt’s future with Marvel. “I’ve had some informal conversations with the powers [at] Marvel, and it’s a conversation, but they’ve got their current phase that they need to do,” Anson Mount explained.
“I don’t know, we’ll see. I would love to jump back into the cowl and do it again. I love Black Bolt as a character.”
The last time fans saw Anson Mount as Black Bolt was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He appeared in a cameo alongside Captain Carter, a different version of Captain Marvel, Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four, and Professor Charles Xavier, as part of Earth-838’s Illuminati.
However, Black Bolt was ultimately killed by the Scarlet Witch, who used his powers against him.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Black Bolt made his Marvel Comics debut in 1965’s Fantastic Four #45. Black Bolt, whose real name is Blackagar Boltagon, is the ruler of the Inhumans, a superhuman race with extraordinary abilities.
One of the defining features of Black Bolt is his power set. His voice is capable of unleashing destructive shockwaves equivalent to a nuclear bomb.

As a result, he must remain silent at all times to prevent causing unintentional destruction. Even a whisper from Black Bolt has the potential to cause catastrophic damage.
Anson Mount made his debut as Black Bolt on the ABC series Inhumans. The story follows the super-powered Royal Family in Attilan, where Black Bolt’s brother Maximus leads a coup against his brother, forcing the family to Earth.
But Black Bolt and his family get separated when they land and are forced to survive several dangerous situations on their own. Inhumans was initially supposed to be a movie in Phase 3 of the MCU, but those plans were scrapped in favor of a series.
Upon its release, the show was slammed for its low production value and poor writing. It was canceled after eight episodes.
Since the release of Ms. Marvel on Disney+, rumors about an Inhumans reboot have been widespread. In the comic books Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel was a hero who possessed dormant inhuman genes that were activated by Terrigen Mist – just like Anson Mount’s Black Bolt.
However, the creative direction of Ms. Marvel remains unclear since the series hinted at her powers being of the X-Men mutant variety.
Black Bolt’s origin story remains solidly tied to the Inhumans. In the comics, he was exposed to the Terrigen Mist during his adolescence. This exposure enhanced his formidable abilities and made him the most powerful Inhuman.
But due to the existence of the multiverse, Black Bolt (or a version of the character) could come back at any time.
