Give Anna Faris The Sequel She Wants

By TeeJay Small | Published

At this point, Anna Faris is a household name, best known for her illustrious catalog of hilarious comedy vehicles. Per a recent discussion with People, the 47-year-old star would love to resurrect one of her greatest roles for a sequel effort, and she even has an excellent idea brewing for the sequel film’s premise. The movie in question is The House Bunny, which was released in 2008 and saw Faris as a Playboy bunny turned sorority mother.

Anna Faris Loved The House Bunny

According to Anna Faris, filming The House Bunny was a life-changing experience, as the well-meaning but air-headed character Shelley helped the actress to get in touch with a compassionate side of herself that she previously struggled to access. Specifically, Faris explained, “playing a character that had so much compassion and lack of judgment, a character who really led with her heart… it sounds really corny, but I think it made me feel like it was easier to make friends in a weird way.”

Faris connected so strongly with her character, in fact, that she’s been brainstorming for a possible House Bunny 2 endeavor ever since the original film premiered.

A Very Different Sequel

Anna Faris explained that her vision for The House Bunny 2 would see Shelley moving on from life as a sorority mother and taking on the task of being a CIA interrogator. It sounds completely out of left field at first, though Faris continued to explain that Shelley’s interpersonal skills would be perfect for disarming her unsuspecting interlocutors, in large part because she comes off so easy-going and nonjudgmental. While this would serve as a massive deviation from the original movie, fans would certainly welcome a chance to see Shelley and her former sorority sisters back in action again.

A Stellar Cast

Anna Farris was joined by a knockout ensemble cast in The House Bunny that included Emma Stone, Kat Dennings, Katharine McPhee, Rumer Willis, Colin Hanks, Christopher McDonald, and many others. If just a fraction of these beloved performers could make time in their schedule to show up for The House Bunny 2, the film would be a guaranteed hit. Still, Faris claims that there have not been any serious talks about launching a sequel to the 2008 comedy, and a formal script has not yet been written.

Anna Faris Found More Success

In the 16 years since The House Bunny premiered, Anna Faris has gone on to star in numerous other projects, including Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel, The Dictator, The Emoji Movie, and, of course, her long-running CBS sitcom Mom, which ran from 2013 through 2020. While each of these projects highlights Faris’ talents in its own way, fans would surely be overjoyed to see her returning to the leading position of a House Bunny 2 movie, especially if it means ratcheting up the stakes as a CIA interrogator. Currently, the actress is on a press tour for her newly-released movie My Spy: The Eternal City, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Make The House Bunny 2

Anna Faris has been a committed comedic actress with an impeccable sense for hilarity for decades now, making her one of the most recognizable faces in her niche. Her idea for The House Bunny 2 sounds like a hilariously apt escalation of the original plot, and would likely make for a perfect legacy sequel if the right people were to get involved behind the scenes. For now, there’s no confirmation of a House Bunny 2 happening, though we would certainly be all for it.
