Angelina Jolie Already Headed For A Marvel Sequel?
Marvel's already making plans for Angelina Jolie's next movies.

We’ve only just recently got our first peek at Angelina Jolie in Marvel’s upcoming film, The Eternals. While the movie doesn’t come out until later this year, it was noted by many that a sequel wasn’t yet announced when Marvel listed out its upcoming films. Is a sequel not currently planned? Now, YouTuber John Campea has shared with his channel how an inside source explained it to him. The most important part: An Eternals 2 is already being planned.
John Campea and others were concerned about the possibility of a sequel for Eternals after we saw Angelina Jolie and The Eternals only briefly mentioned in Marvel’s Celebrating the Movies sizzle reel. He asked his insider why a sequel wasn’t included. They told Campea that Avengers 5 and Eternals sequels weren’t announced there because the video was focusing on films with verified release dates up through 2023. Marvel has so many projects currently on their board that they couldn’t include them all. While Eternals 2 is being planned for, the movie doesn’t yet have a verified release date. It is happening, though.
Eternals 2 has big stars like Angelina Jolie signed on with busy lives and schedules. Hopefully, as they’re making their plans, they’re talking to agents and getting folks signed on so that the sequel isn’t put off too far into the Marvel release schedule.
It makes sense that Marvel is already planning on an Eternals sequel, even without box office results from the first yet. They’ve already committed hard to this project. They’re hired big talent, including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harrington, and Kumail Nanjiani. They’ve said the story is going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One way this is going to happen in Eternals will be with the Celestials, characters we’ve only heard mentioned in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy. These beings are ancient, powerful, and the more we learn about them, the more it will likely change what we know about the superhero movies we’ve already seen in the MCU so far.
We haven’t learned a ton about Eternals yet. Most of what we know is about the cast itself and about how excited writer and director Chloé Zhao is for the project. The director has been gaining a lot of attention after her recent Oscar win for Best Director. After, Angelina Jolie shared that her experience with Zhao on Eternals was great. She said that she believes Zhao has a voice that will bring a lot to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that Jolie is excited for people to see what Zhao has done.
Similarly, Marvel head Kevin Feige shared during a Rolling Stone interview that Zhao’s pitch was the best he’d ever heard. Zhao has said that she was a big Marvel fan and put the word out for a while that she wanted to collaborate and make something special. Vague hints and big promises about how great this movie is going to be have been spreading for a while now. Hopefully, the film will live up the hype when it’s release in theaters on November 5, 2021.
