Comedian Andy Dick is back in the public eye, but probably not for reasons he’d like. The 56-year-old comedian was taken into custody following the suspicion of felony sexual battery which allegedly took place in a campground in Orange County, California. On May 11 at 9 a.m., officers responded to the reports of a man alleging sexual assault in the campground which is located inside O’Neill Regional Park in Trabuco. Scott Steinle, a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department backed up these claims.

Upon arrival, the police found the alleged suspect, Andy Dick, inside of his RV where he has reportedly been living for some time. Adding to the spectacle of it all, the comedian’s arrest was captured via livestream on Captain Content’s RV YouTube channel. Dick was then taken to the Orange County Jail where he was booked for the alleged assault. Meanwhile, the man who put forth the allegations was taken to a hospital in order to undergo examinations.

Andy Dick’s RV-based life has been in and out of the news, tabloids, and even live stream channels for quite some time now. Prior to this alleged assault, his most recent live stream happening occurred just last month in Las Vegas. With cameras rolling, viewers could very clearly see Dick sitting on a couch while two men began arguing. When one of those men whipped out a gun, the comments section flooded and the police were called to the scene to do a welfare check. However, after the officers dropped by, Dick said all was well and the police left.

Considered to be a shock comedian, Andy Dick has been accused of taking his antics beyond the camera and into the realm of the illegal several times before this latest incident. In 2018, he was charged with one count sexual battery and one count of simple battery after a woman turned him in for allegedly squeezing her butt as Dick passed by her on the sidewalk. On top of the inappropriate touching allegations, she also claimed that he made lewd comments. 2018 was a rough year for the actor as he was also fired from the film Raising Buchanan after sexual harassment claims came to the surface.

Andy Dick got his start in Hollywood on the Fox sketch comedy show, The Ben Stiller Show, from 1992-1993. From there, he would make appearances in one-off programs through the 1990s before landing his very own series, The Andy Dick Show, on MTV in 2001. The series would see him riff on a lot of popular shows of the time including Cribs and The View, perform mockumentary-type sketches, and of course, tear down the famous women of that time period, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears… really funny stuff. The popularity of who Dick was would draw familiar faces to his show including Ben Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, Bob Odenkirk, and Vitamin C.

Since the end of his series, Andy Dick’s name has been in the headlines more for allegations of inappropriate conduct than for his comedy career. The latest claims are just another block on the ever-growing wall of alleged unacceptable behavior against the comedian.
