America’s Most Wanted has served as one of television’s greatest reality crime series’ for over 3 decades, with 25 seasons produced from 1988 to 2012. Now, the series is set to make a triumphant return, highlighting modern crimes and powerful corruptive forces alike.

Per an exclusive report in Variety, seasoned host John Walsh is set to return to his hosting duties, along with his son Callahan, who will surely breathe new life into the long-running series.

Callahan Walsh is known amongst anti-crime activists for his work as a child advocate with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, fighting to prevent trafficking and other child abuses across the world.

Callahan has appeared on America’s Most Wanted alongside his father before, offering his expertise on the seedy underbelly of the criminal underworld.

Now, as Fox prepares to re-launch the beloved crime show, John and Callahan have reportedly signed on to co-host the program as a team.

The new season of America’s Most Wanted is set to premiere sometime in 2024. John Walsh thanked fans of the show for providing enough support to bring the show back to the air.

Before working with Fox to bring America’s Most Wanted to the world, John Walsh lost his young son Adam. The child’s remains were discovered after a two-week manhunt, resulting in the host founding the Adam Walsh Child Resource Center in his honor.

With new and exciting technology in the world of criminal justice, the 2024 iteration of America’s Most Wanted promises to utilize every resource possible to put an end to a myriad of ongoing cases.

Cops Revival As Well

In addition to reviving America’s Most Wanted, Fox has announced a revival of their other highest-rated true crime reality program, Cops. That show ran for over 25 years before being canceled amid claims that the series glorifies police violence and misconduct.

These non-scripted shows may have been given the greenlight from executives at Fox due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes which plagued much of 2023, resulting in many studios needing to rely on syndicated reruns and reality programming to ameliorate their production schedules.

Because Of The Strike?

If America’s Most Wanted was revived as a reaction to the strikes, this mirrors the rise of reality television during the last writer’s strike of 2007-2008.

Unlike other reality shows like Keeping Up With The Kardashians and The Jersey Shore, however, America’s Most Wanted focuses on prescient and pressing issues while supporting the families and loved ones of victims of crime.
