Amber Heard Still Has A Major Role In Her Biggest Franchise After All?
This article is more than 2 years old
The collective DC and pop culture-loving world were shocked to discover that part of the plans for the DC Cinematic Universe had seemingly been leaked, with the biggest news coming that Wonder Woman 3 was not moving forward. More news also revealed that coveted cameos were being removed from movies, including some in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. However, it appears that Amber Heard has not been cut from Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, though Ben Affleck’s Batman and Willem Dafoe’s Vulko have been.
The entirety of this new DC plan seems to want to reset everything that the Snyderverse put together, which isn’t the worst idea. The rumor is that Jason Momoa is going to be appearing one final time as Arthur Curry before pivoting to a brand-new role in the DC Cinematic Universe. While fans were certainly wanting to see Amber Heard replaced as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, she is going to get her final time under the DC banner as well.
Amber Heard reprising her role as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is seemingly going to be added to Momoa’s final appearance as the titular character as well, as rumors are indicating that he is going to be recast as DC’s Lobo. This is just a rumor currently, but James Gunn had already teased that Lobo could be a huge part of the DC Cinematic Universe on his social media pages. Gunn has a knack for bringing out the best in some of the more oddball characters, and while Lobo isn’t a massive oddball DC character, has been far underutilized in live action.
There is another rumor that Jason Momoa is going to be granted one final story as Arthur Curry, with an impending third movie in the franchise. However, we highly doubt that Amber Heard is going to be welcomed back to Aquaman 3, should that final chapter move forward. With the ongoing issues of her court appearances against ex-husband Johnny Depp, it might be quite some time before any franchise will want to cast her in anything.
Still, fans who despite Amber Heard might want to steer clear of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, as she is certainly going to be reprising her role as Mera one final time. This huge shakeup of the DC properties is something that the company certainly needs right now, and with the drama that has surrounded certain projects and actors, it could help to purge the rest of the upcoming moves to start new.
Amber Heard appearing in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom a final time isn’t the only drama that DC has seen, as Ezra Miller has cast quite a black cloud over The Flash because of their wild behavior and many arrests. This altering of the big cameos of the movie is likely a direct result of their behavior, and what has likely also led to The Flash being part of these big purge plans.
Amber Heard is also set to pay $10.35 million in damages to Johnny Depp, and with her staying in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, she might still be able to pay those damages and move on with her life.
