Amber Heard Cut Out Of Aquaman 2 For Good?
Just how much of Amber Heard’s work on Aquaman 2 has made it into the film’s final cut? A long-awaited trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom that was released last month featured Heard’s character Mera for approximately two seconds near the end, lending credence to the rumors that the actress’s role in the sequel has been reduced to nothing more than a glorified cameo. Now, a bombshell report from Variety reveals that star Jason Momoa allegedly wanted Heard dropped from the film entirely.
“Jason [Momoa] said he wanted me fired.”
Amber Heard via obtained notes from her therapist
According to Variety, a group of Johnny Depp acolytes ponied up the dough to get a court to release notes taken by Amber Heard’s therapist, Dr. Dawn Hughes. The handwritten notes were part of last year’s infamous trial that saw both Depp and Heard doing their best to paint the other as the worst human imaginable. Depp was declared the winner according to the court of public opinion despite a Jury awarding Heard $2 million in damages, proving that both parties were at fault.
These formerly private notes came from a therapy session that Amber Heard participated in on December 27, 2021, and detail Heard’s alleged issues with her Aquaman 2 costar, Jason Momoa. “Jason said he wanted me fired,” the notes read. Heard apparently also told her therapist that Momoa was often late and that when he did show up, he was dressed as her ex-husband Johnny Depp, complete with Depp’s rings and penchant for public intoxication.
A spokesperson for DC disputed Heard’s characterization of Momoa on set, saying, “Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times” while on the set of Aquaman 2. An anonymous source from the set of the movie came to Momoa’s defense, stating that the actor “works his ass off,” and while he does enjoy the occasional beer, “doesn’t show up drunk to set.”
Allegedly, Warner Bros. wanted to drop Heard due to her lack of chemistry with Jason Momoa but ultimately didn’t, thanks to a letter from Heard’s ex-boyfriend Elon Musk.
The source who observed Jason Momoa and Amber Heard during a London 2021 shoot added that the two stars were very friendly on set and often joked around with each other.
As for the claim that Momoa walked around dressed like Johnny Depp, the source admitted the actor “Has always dressed in that bohemian style.”
Jason Momoa wasn’t the only one involved in the production of Aquaman 2 to be mentioned in Amber Heard’s notes. The actress also expressed her frustration with the way director James Wan treated her once her legal battle with Depp heated up in the press. According to the notes, the director once yelled at Heard, “I can’t even post about Aquaman!” making it seem like it was Heard’s fault alone for the media circus.
Now that Warner Bros. has to do damage control again for the seemingly cursed Aquaman 2, who knows if she will even appear in the final film at all?
Despite Amber Heard making it seem as though her reduced role in the Aquaman sequel was retaliatory, sources say that Heard was almost fired from the movie before Depp even filed his first suit against the actress in 2019. Allegedly, Warner Bros. wanted to drop Heard due to her lack of chemistry with Jason Momoa but ultimately didn’t, thanks to a letter from Heard’s ex-boyfriend Elon Musk. Musk’s letter has been described as “scorched earth,” and apparently threatened to “burn the house down” at Warner Bros. if Heard was fired from Aquaman 2.
Prior to the revelatory report from Variety, all signs pointed to Amber Heard’s role in Aquaman 2 being no bigger than a scene or two. Now that Warner Bros. has to do damage control again for the seemingly cursed Aquaman 2, who knows if she will even appear in the final film at all?
After all, the movie doesn’t come out until December 20—plenty of time for DC to erase Heard from the movie entirely and do a quick reshoot explaining that Mera died on the way back to her home planet.
