Ever since the various trials between former married couple Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, both have had their share of career difficulties. While Johnny Depp was fired from the Fantastic Beasts franchise, Amber Heard has had to avoid several petitions to get her fired from Aquaman 2, and nonstop rumors about her involvement with the project. Now, a new rumor suggests that the reason Amber Heard has remained on Aquaman 2 is because of her Justice League director, Zack Snyder.
This rumor comes from gossip writer Daniel Richtman’s Patreon page, but it seems as though in recent months, Richtman has simply been throwing out as many Amber Heard rumors as he can to see what sticks. Richtman has made rumors saying Aquaman 2 would focus more on Amber Heard’s Aquaman character of Hera, and also that she’s been fired. According to Richtman, Heard isn’t just a part of the DC Universe, she’s also in talks to play a Disney princess, appear in Star Wars, and Pirates of the Caribbean. In Richtman’s mind, Heard is the most sought-after actress in Hollywood, so take this Amber Heard and Zack Snyder news not only with a grain of salt, but with the entire salt shaker.
But it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Zack Snyder was a major reason for Amber Heard sticking around, considering he’s been a producer for many films in the DC Universe, including an executive producer on 2018’s Aquaman. Amber Heard’s Mera actually made her DC Universe debut in 2017’s Justice League, and it looks as though she will have more material in Snyder’s new cut of Justice League coming out later this month. Plus, as one of the primary female characters in the DC Universe, it makes sense that DC would want Heard to stick around.
So far, pretty much all rumors surrounding Amber Heard leaving Aquaman 2 have been entirely baseless. One rumor seemed to derive from a mistake in a Forbes article, which said that Emilia Clarke would be replacing Amber Heard in Aquaman 2. That rumor has also led to many saying that Heard was fired from Aquaman 2 for breaking her contract, or that her role was being significantly cut. However, Heard’s team has specifically stated she’s still involved with the project, and Warner Bros. has made no announcements about any change in cast. As it stands, it doesn’t look like the last time we see Amber Heard will be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
While some studios might try to keep this type of news hidden, Warner Bros. has been surprisingly upfront about changes recently. Soon after Depp was fired from Fantastic Beasts, the studio announced that Mads Mikkelsen would be replacing the actor in the film. When Ray Fisher said he would no longer be playing Cyborg after Zack Snyder’s Justice League, that news was almost immediately made public. If Amber Heard was, in fact, fired from Aquaman 2, it seems like there would be an official statement made about it, rather than just another rumor thrown into the massive pile of Amber Heard rumors.
