Alien: Earth TV Series Finally Reveals Its Teeth
The next chapter in the Alien franchise is on the way, as FX and Hulu have premiered the teaser for their upcoming series, Alien: Earth. This will be the first time that the otherworldly film series has dipped into the world of television, and we’re feeling slightly torn. Still, the teaser packs a terrifying punch as a Xenomorph takes front and center, preparing for its takeover of our planet.
In the Alien: Earth teaser, viewers see the sun rising over the titular planet but it’s soon revealed that what we’re seeing is merely a reflection. Reflecting off of what, you ask? The shiny black head of a Xenomorph then flashes its teeth and screams before the first look cuts out.
Although the Alien: Earth trailer left us guessing about the plot, we know that the series will star Sydney Chandler, who made her feature-length debut alongside the cast of Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling.
By way of a plot, the first piece of promotional material doesn’t offer a lot but it promises that the TV series is in its final steps of the process. When it will touch ground is yet to be announced but the show is set to join the network’s 2025 lineup. The glimpse was also careful to note that Alien: Earth will only drop on Hulu who continue their running streaming deal with FX.
Along with Sydney Chandler, audiences can also expect Alien: Earth to be filled with a blended cast of familiar faces and newcomers alike.
Although the Alien: Earth trailer left us guessing about the plot, we know that the series will star Sydney Chandler, who made her feature-length debut alongside the cast of Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling. As for its place on the timeline, the first TV production to come from the Alien universe is said to be a prequel that will take place a full three decades before the Ridley Scott movie that started it all, 1979’s Alien.
Along with Sydney Chandler, audiences can also expect Alien: Earth to be filled with a blended cast of familiar faces and newcomers alike. Included in the lineup are Timothy Olyphant (Santa Clarita Diet), Alex Lawther (The Imitation Game), Essie Davis (The Babadook), Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger), and more.
While he isn’t involved (that we know of yet) with directing or writing, you’d better believe that Ridley Scott is on board as an executive producer for the fresh take on the story that he created.
So, who is the main force behind Alien: Earth? That task would go to Noah Hawley who audiences will recognize from his sprawling background with other FX projects, Fargo and Legion, both of which he created. He’s also penned episodes of Bones, The Unusuals, and My Generation and made his feature-length directorial debut with the 2019 Natalie Portman-led feature, Lucky in the Sky, which he also wrote.
Now that audiences can’t stop talking about Alien: Romulus, eyes and expectations will be set on what lies ahead with Alien: Earth when it arrives in 2025.
When you look at his background, if there was ever a solid choice to bring the Alien franchise off the big screen and onto the small with Alien: Earth, Noah Hawley is the guy for the job. In its five seasons, Fargo has garnered massive critical acclaim, earning six Emmys and three Golden Globes – which is just the tip of the iceberg. Likewise, his contribution to Marvel with FX’s Legion was – and still is – a fan favorite.
