Alexandra Daddario

Alexandra Daddario first really skyrocketed to fame after doing a noteworthy nude scene in the acclaimed first season of True Detective. It wasn’t her first role, but somehow afterward she got a lot more attention.

So perhaps it makes sense that Daddario is returning to that sexy well by doing a movie which could be described as a Fifty Shades of Grey knockoff but which is probably best described for anyone over the age of 30 as a big budget, high-profile Skinemax flick.

It’s called Lost Girls and Love Hotels and it’s based on the erotic novel by Catherine Hanrahan. It’s probably safe to say it was read by the same audience that read Fifty Shades and it’s also probably safe to say the movie will be watched by the same group too. With, perhaps, the addition of a creepy group of dudes who still can’t get Alexandra Daddario’s topless scene from True Detective out of their heads.

If that got you interested, watch for Alexandra Daddario in Lost Girls and Love Hotels on your various streaming platforms September 18th, 2020.

The movie is expected to follow the plot of the bestselling book pretty closely. It’s about a girl named Margaret who gets involved in a dominant/submissive relationship with a married man. Also known as a D/s relationship. That man also just happens to be a member of the Yakuza, which calls to mind the plot of the recent hit erotic Netflix movie 365 Days. I hope Alexandra Daddario doesn’t get blown up at the end.

One of the big complaints leveled at Fifty Shades was how unrealistic its portrayal of D/s was. Or at least that was the big complaint leveled against it by actual D/s practitioners. It seems unlikely this will make them any happier from the trailers. Women looking for romance by living vicariously through Alexandra Daddario are less interested in realism than in titillation, I’d assume, and it’s to those women that Lost Girls And Love Hotels is trying to market itself.

Where Alexandra Daddario Came From

Alexandra Daddario

Born in New York City, Alexandra Daddario is the daughter of a successful lawyer (her father). Her little brother, Matthew Daddario is also an actor though obviously not as well known. Her grandfather was a member of the US House of Representatives. Add that up and you’ll arrive at the conclusion she comes from a family with both money and serious, old school connections.

Alexandra Daddario got her start in acting at the age of 16 on the ABC Soap Opera All My Children. She started getting major attention after landing a role in 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Despite her involvement in the family friendly Percy Jackson franchise, though, Alexandra Daddario soon ended up in a career that alternated between playing sexy victims in trouble for horror movies and disaster movies (as in Texas Chainsaw and San Andreas), or just sexy women in sexy situations for sexy situation’s sake (as in Hall Pass or Baywatch).

Alexandra Daddario’s eye-opening True Detective appearance happened in 2014 and from there she started booking movies at a rapid pace, becoming a legitimate up and coming movie star. Things slowed down after she did Baywatch in 2017, probably because it was Baywatch and it was terrible. Only The Rock has the power to escape a movie that bad unscathed.

These days Alexandra Daddario is the lead on the CBS series Why Women Kill. When it comes to movies she’s settling for smaller (yet still sexy) roles like the one in Lost Girls and Love Hotels above. Maybe Lost Girls will be the one to propel her back into the world of starring alongside The Rock, maybe not. Either way she’s carved out a solid career for herself one that will probably keep going as long as she wants.

Now 34-years-old, Alexandra Daddario lives in Los Angeles. She was once in a long-term relationship with her Percy Jackson co-star Logan Lerman, but the pair split up and she’s currently single and, judging by her Instagram, spending a lot of her time hanging out in bikinis with her friends…
